Renault bets big on India with ‘futuREady’ push, targets top-three global market status

Renault Group has unveiled an ambitious India-focused strategy under its global “futuREady” vision, positioning the country as a key growth driver, technology hub and export base for its next phase of international expansion.

At the end of a week-long visit to India, Mr. François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, emphasised that India represents more than one-third of the growth potential across markets where the Renault brand already operates. He noted that India is set to evolve not only as a major growth market but also as a centre of excellence and a global export hub, underlining its importance in strengthening the Group’s overall competitiveness.

As part of this strategy, Renault has outlined a clear product roadmap for India, aiming to build a seven-model portfolio by 2030 spanning key segments from compact cars to larger SUVs. Mr. Stéphane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group in India, said the future line-up will feature a full spectrum of electrified powertrains, from strong hybrids to fully electric vehicles, supported by world-class engineering and competitive manufacturing. The product offensive includes the recently unveiled Renault Duster, which has already generated strong customer interest, as well as the Renault Bridger Concept that previews a new B-segment compact SUV. These models, along with future additions, will be built on the RGEP and RGMP platforms, both designed with a multi-energy approach to support internal combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains depending on market needs.

Alongside product expansion, the OEM is repositioning itself in India with a higher value-added strategy focused on advanced onboard technologies, electrified powertrains and enhanced design appeal. The company is also strengthening its customer-centric approach through the Renault Forever initiative, aimed at improving service quality, simplifying ownership experience and building long-term trust. As part of this, customers will benefit from a seven-year warranty, reflecting a stronger emphasis on ownership value and aftersales engagement.

A key pillar of the futuREady India plan is the transformation of the country into a technology and export hub for Renault Group. The company’s Chennai engineering centre, one of its largest globally, brings together around 6,000 engineers and IT specialists working on vehicle architecture, software, simulation and lifecycle upgrades. This centre is set to take on a more prominent global role, contributing to platform development and technology programmes not only for India but also for international markets.

On the manufacturing front, the company has taken full ownership of its Chennai plant, enabling deeper localisation, stronger supplier integration and more efficient end-to-end supply chain management. Leveraging India’s cost competitiveness, the Group is also positioning the facility as a strategic export hub for vehicles, components and services, particularly targeting markets such as South America, with an ambition to generate €2 billion in annual exports by 2030.

With the rollout of futuREady India, Renault is making a decisive statement about its long-term commitment to the country, aiming to make India one of its top three global markets by the end of the decade. The strategy focuses on a broader shift in Renault’s global playbook, where India is not just a volume market, but a central pillar in its growth, innovation and export ambitions.
