Yamaha Launches XSR155 in New Metallic Black Shade to Boost Modern-Retro Appeal

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. has expanded its modern-retro motorcycle lineup with the launch of the XSR155 in a new Metallic Black colour, priced at ₹ 1,58,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new shade adds a bolder and more premium edge to the XSR155’s design, answering growing demand from riders who prefer a darker, more striking look.

The Metallic Black finish enhances the motorcycle’s classic silhouette, highlighting its muscular fuel tank, minimalist body panels and signature retro-themed styling. The addition of golden USD front forks elevates its stance further, giving it a sportier, high-end visual character.

Announcing the launch, Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said the new variant reflects Yamaha’s commitment to listening to its riding community. He noted that the XSR155’s strong reception since its debut has validated the brand’s Modern Retro Sport philosophy in India. “When our community expressed a clear aspiration for a black variant, we acted with agility and purpose. The Metallic Black XSR155 is not just about a new colour — it represents our deeper connection with riders who value individuality, performance and styling,” he said.

The new variant reinforces Yamaha’s premium, rider-first positioning in India, with the company continuing to respond swiftly to evolving customer preferences. Since its launch in November last year, the XSR155 has gained traction among motorcycle enthusiasts seeking a blend of timeless styling and sporty performance.

Built on Yamaha’s proven Deltabox frame, the XSR155 features a lightweight chassis, 17-inch wheels and a design that prioritises agility and easy everyday riding. It is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), producing 13.5 kW and 14.2 Nm for strong, linear acceleration. Premium hardware such as an aluminium swingarm, USD front forks, linked-type monocross suspension and a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch contribute to precise handling and a refined ride experience. Dual-channel ABS and traction control come standard, further enhancing safety and rider confidence.
