India’s automotive sector closed June 2026 on a strong note, with broad-based growth across passenger cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and tractors. Several manufacturers posted record monthly or half-yearly sales figures, electric vehicle volumes continued their sharp upward trajectory, and export numbers added further momentum to an already encouraging picture. From mass-market scooters to heavy trucks, the numbers point to a market that is growing in confidence and depth.

Passenger Cars
Maruti Suzuki posted total sales of 2,00,390 units in June 2026, a 19.3% year-on-year increase. Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,47,187 units, with vans contributing an additional 10,230 units and exports accounting for 42,768 units. Total domestic sales, including light commercial vehicles and OEM supplies, came in at 1,57,622 units.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles posted domestic sales of 62,076 units in June 2026, a 67.4% year-on-year increase. Including international exports of 1,007 units, total dispatches for the month reached 63,083 units, up 69.4% over the same period last year.
Mahindra & Mahindra sold 60,393 SUVs in the domestic market in June 2026, a 28% year-on-year increase over 47,306 units in June 2025 and a 4.1% rise over May 2026. The figure marks the first time Mahindra has crossed the 60,000-unit monthly milestone in the SUV segment.
Hyundai Motor India reported total sales of 51,335 units in June 2026, comprising domestic sales of 39,635 units and exports of 11,700 units. The performance came despite a production loss of 13,900 units caused by a fire at one of the company’s supplier facilities, which temporarily disrupted the supply of components.
Kia India posted its best-ever June sales since the company began operations in the country, dispatching 24,552 units during the month — a 19% year-on-year increase over the 20,625 units sold in June 2025. The performance reflects continued customer confidence in the brand and the strength of its expanding product lineup. The momentum extended across the broader first half of 2026 as well, with Kia India recording wholesale volumes of 1,63,749 units between January and June, its strongest-ever first-half performance. That marks a 15.2% year-on-year growth over the 1,42,139 units dispatched in the same period last year.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 31,016 units in June 2026, a 7% year-on-year increase over the 28,869 units sold in June 2025. Of the total, 28,441 units were sold in the domestic market, up 8% from 26,453 units a year ago, while exports grew 7% to 2,575 units from 2,416 units in June 2025. For the first half of 2026, TKM’s cumulative volumes reached 2,01,338 units, a 15% increase over 1,74,890 units in the same period last year. Domestic sales for January to June 2026 stood at 1,85,666 units, up 15% from 1,61,531 units, while exports rose 17% to 15,672 units from 13,359 units in the corresponding period of 2025.
Renault India posted domestic wholesale sales of 4,063 units in June 2026, a 55% year-on-year increase that extended the company’s run of double-digit monthly growth to ten consecutive months. For the first half of 2026, domestic sales rose 61% to 25,844 units. The month also marked the start of exports for the all-new Renault Duster, with the first shipment of 750 units dispatched to South Africa.
Nissan Motor India recorded domestic wholesale volumes of 3,006 units in June 2026, a 129% year-on-year jump that marks the fourth consecutive month of domestic sales growth for the company. Exports for the month stood at 5,340 units, taking total wholesales to 8,346 units — a 16% increase over the same month last year.
Two-wheelers
Hero MotoCorp sold 5,41,159 two-wheelers in June 2026, a 2.31% year-on-year decline from 5,53,963 units in June 2025. Domestic sales fell 4.24% to 5,02,890 units, while exports bucked the trend with a strong 32.75% year-on-year jump to 38,269 units. Within the product mix, motorcycle sales dipped 6.62% to 4,78,701 units, while scooters delivered a standout performance, surging 51.20% year-on-year to 62,458 units.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India recorded total sales of 16.11 lakh units in Q1 FY27, a 17% year-on-year increase over 13.75 lakh units in Q1 FY26. Domestic sales for the quarter grew 15% to 14.13 lakh units from 12.28 lakh units, while exports jumped 36% to 1.98 lakh units from 1.46 lakh units in the same period last year. The momentum carried into June 2026, with total sales reaching 5.28 lakh units, a 23% year-on-year rise over 4.29 lakh units in June 2025. Domestic sales for the month grew 21% to 4.68 lakh units, while exports surged 47% compared to June 2025, reaching 0.59 lakh units.
TVS Motor Company posted its highest-ever monthly sales in June 2026, with total volumes across two-wheelers, electric vehicles, and three-wheelers reaching 5,90,003 units — a 47% year-on-year surge.
Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded total sales of 1,15,030 units in June 2026, a 21% year-on-year increase over 95,244 units sold in the same month last year. Domestic sales grew 23% to 91,264 units from 73,934 units in June 2025, while exports rose 12% to 23,766 units compared to 21,310 units in the corresponding period last year.
Commercial Vehicles
Tata Motors has reported strong sales momentum in the first quarter of FY27, with total volumes across domestic and international markets reaching 1,08,488 units, up significantly from 85,606 units in Q1 FY26. The growth trend carried through into June 2026 as well, with monthly sales touching 40,805 units compared to 30,238 units in the same month last year.
The medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment was a key growth driver during the quarter. Domestic MH&ICV sales in June 2026 came in at 16,327 units, up 27 % year-on-year from 12,871 units in June 2025. For the full quarter, domestic MH&ICV volumes stood at 44,571 units against 37,370 units in Q1 FY26, reflecting a 19 % year-on-year increase. When international markets are included, MH&ICV sales for June 2026 rose 29 % year-on-year to 18,063 units from 14,027 units, while the Q1 FY27 combined tally reached 48,062 units, up 19 % from 40,401 units in the corresponding period last year.
The quarter’s standout performance, however, came from electric vehicles, where Tata Motors recorded a 4.4 times year-on-year surge in volumes during Q1 FY27, pointing to rapidly accelerating adoption and reinforcing the company’s position at the front of India’s electric mobility transition.
Ashok Leyland posted total commercial vehicle sales of 19,194 units in June 2026, a 25% year-on-year increase over 15,333 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales stood at 17,912 units, led by a strong 44% surge in medium and heavy commercial vehicle truck sales.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s Trucks and Buses business recorded combined sales of 3,249 vehicles in June 2026, a 5% year-on-year increase over 3,098 units in June 2025. Passenger vehicles led the growth, rising 16% to 2,111 units, while cargo vehicles dipped 11% to 1,138 units. For the year to date, the combined MTBD and SML total stood at 9,389 units, up 11% from 8,449 units in the same period last year.
Within the Mahindra Trucks and Buses Division, total sales for June 2026 came in at 1,319 units, a 7% year-on-year rise. Passenger vehicles were the standout, growing 24% to 536 units, while cargo vehicles edged down 2% to 783 units. On a year-to-date basis, MTBD sales reached 3,951 units, up 12% from 3,523 units in FY26.
SML Mahindra posted total sales of 1,930 units in June 2026, a 3% year-on-year increase over 1,871 units. Passenger vehicles grew 13% to 1,575 units, while cargo vehicles fell 26% to 355 units. Year to date, SML’s total stood at 5,438 units, 10% ahead of the 4,926 units recorded in the corresponding period of FY26.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business sold 58,177 tractors in the domestic market in June 2026, a 12% year-on-year increase over 51,769 units sold in June 2025. Including exports of 1,758 units, total tractor sales for the month stood at 59,935 units, compared to 53,392 units in the same period last year.
Sonalika Tractors recorded its highest-ever first-quarter sales in FY27, dispatching 53,661 tractors between April and June 2026 — a 23.1% year-on-year increase that outpaced the industry’s estimated growth of 18.3% for the same period. The company crossed the 50,000-unit mark in domestic sales within just three months, reinforcing its position as the leading market share gainer in the domestic tractor segment for Q1 FY27.
