JSW Motors, Tata Elxsi set up Pune Tech Hub for software-defined mobility

JSW Motors has partnered with Tata Elxsi to establish the JNEXT – JSW NextGen Technology Center in Pune, marking a strategic step towards developing next-generation, software-defined and AI-powered mobility solutions.

The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise the collaboration, with the new centre positioned as a key engineering hub supporting JSW Motors’ upcoming vehicle programmes. The facility will work closely with the company’s R&D, manufacturing and leadership teams, enabling faster development cycles and deeper integration of digital technologies.

The collaboration will also extend to software-defined vehicle architectures and intelligent platforms for diagnostics, performance optimisation and predictive maintenance. It will include testing, validation, functional safety and cybersecurity frameworks aligned with global automotive standards.

Leveraging its automotive engineering and digital capabilities, along with proprietary platforms such as TETHER Auto, Tata Elxsi aims to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions for JSW Motors.

At the core of the partnership is the development of a connected vehicle platform and a unified customer experience application. Tata Elxsi will lead the initiative end-to-end—from conceptualisation and system integration to production and aftersales support—while collaborating with a broader ecosystem of partners.

The JNEXT centre will focus on building advanced digital and data-driven capabilities, including user experience design, cloud platforms, over-the-air (OTA) frameworks and digital twin technologies. It will also support the development of intelligent solutions such as location-based services, cybersecurity systems, AI and machine learning analytics, and 5G-enabled technologies, along with immersive experiences using AR, VR and XR.

Mr. Ranjan Nayak, CEO, JSW Motors, said the partnership aligns with the company’s vision of creating a technology-led, new-energy mobility ecosystem that is rooted in India while being globally competitive. He noted that Tata Elxsi’s expertise in software-defined vehicles, ADAS, electrification and digital engineering will help accelerate development timelines and enhance product quality, safety and innovation.

Mr. Manoj Raghavan, MD & CEO, Tata Elxsi, highlighted that the future of mobility will be increasingly connected and software-driven, with vehicles evolving continuously through software and data. He added that the JNEXT centre will play a critical role in translating this vision into scalable, real-world solutions.
