Ultraviolette Secures Karnataka MoU for PLI-backed Manufacturing Expansion

Ultraviolette Automotive has announced its proposed five-year investment plan aimed at significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint in Karnataka. The phased programme includes capacity enhancement at the company’s existing facility and the establishment of a new production plant in the State. This strategic expansion underscores Ultraviolette’s long-term commitment to Karnataka and reinforces its vision to accelerate India’s fast-evolving electric mobility sector.

In line with its growth strategy, Ultraviolette has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka on the sidelines of the ‘Invest Karnataka’ Conclave in Bengaluru. The MoU was formalised in the presence of Shri M. B. Patil, Honourable Minister for Large & Medium Industries, Karnataka.

Speaking on the announcement, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette, said, “Karnataka has been central to Ultraviolette’s vision of making in India for the world. This proposed manufacturing expansion reflects our confidence in the State’s forward-looking EV ecosystem, talent pool, and policy support. The combination of infrastructure readiness, proactive governance, and long-term incentive visibility creates a strong foundation for Ultraviolette’s next phase of growth.”

Niraj Rajmohan, CTO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette, added, “Karnataka has been home to Ultraviolette’s R&D journey from the very beginning. The State offers a unique combination of deep engineering talent, strong supplier networks, and proximity to key industrial and manufacturing hubs. What makes this especially meaningful for us is that we have built world-class products here, proving that with the right talent, ambition, and ecosystem, innovation can be created right here in Karnataka.”

Headquartered in Bengaluru, Ultraviolette’s proprietary battery technology, combined with futuristic design and performance engineering, is reflected across its product portfolio, which consists of performance motorcycles – F77 and the X-47 Crossover. The company has established a strong national presence with over 40 experience centres across major Indian cities and plans to expand to 100 cities by the end of 2026.

Beyond India, Ultraviolette is gaining momentum in its global expansion, with a presence in 12 European countries. It has become India’s first electric two-wheeler manufacturer to enter Europe and plans to further scale its footprint across Asia and Latin America.
