
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has strengthened its after-sales network in the Northeast with the inauguration of a new BharatBenz service centre in Silchar, Assam. Operated by PPS Trucking, the facility marks a strategic expansion aimed at improving service accessibility in a region witnessing growing commercial vehicle movement.
Located on the Silchar Bypass near ISBT on NH-37, the 30,000 sq. ft. workshop is equipped with eight service bays and can handle up to 3,000 vehicles annually. The facility features advanced diagnostic systems, modern tools and genuine spare parts, ensuring faster turnaround times and reliable maintenance support. It also offers 24×7 roadside assistance through mobile service vans, enhancing vehicle uptime across key routes.
The new service centre is expected to play a critical role in supporting vehicles operating along the vital corridors connecting Assam with Mizoram and Manipur. The region has been seeing increased logistics activity driven by infrastructure development under the Asom Mala 3.0 programme, along with rising industrial demand linked to limestone reserves in North Cachar Hills.
Mr. Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and Chief Business Officer, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said the expansion reflects the company’s focus on delivering strong after-sales support in challenging operating environments. He noted that proximity to customers and reliable service capabilities are central to improving ownership experience in demanding terrains like the Northeast.
Mr. Rajiv Sanghvi, Managing Director, PPS Trucking, added that the Silchar facility strengthens the company’s presence in a key logistics junction connecting Assam with neighbouring states such as Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. He emphasised that the new workshop will help improve service accessibility, reduce turnaround times and enhance fleet uptime, ultimately supporting customer profitability.
Designed with a focus on both operational efficiency and driver comfort, the facility includes dedicated rest areas and customer-centric amenities. It is staffed by a team of 32 trained technicians and offers a full suite of services, including preventive maintenance, scheduled servicing, on-site support and express service options.
