Chartered Speed Accelerates 3,000 E-Bus Deployment Across 18 Cities

Chartered Speed Limited, one of India’s leading passenger mobility companies, has commenced electric bus operations in Shillong, Jaipur, and Bhilwara under the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme, marking a significant step in the company’s broader rollout of nearly 3,000 electric buses across 18 cities under the PM e-Bus Sewa and e-Drive Scheme. Once fully operational, the network is expected to serve nearly 20 crore green kilometres annually, bringing metro-grade public transport experiences to Tier-II and Tier-III cities across India.

In Shillong, Chartered Speed is advancing the rollout of 55 electric buses — comprising 25 nine-metre buses configured as 27-seaters and 30 seven-metre buses configured as 22-seaters — flagged off by Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr. Conrad K. Sangma. In Rajasthan, the company has received an order for 876 electric buses across the state, with 318 planned for Jaipur and 50 for Bhilwara. The initial phase, flagged off by Rajasthan Chief Minister Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, has seen 29 electric buses commence operations in Jaipur and 18 in Bhilwara, with the remaining buses to be commissioned in a phased manner.

To support operations at this scale, Chartered Speed is investing in skilled manpower development, structured driver recruitment, continuous training programmes, and technology-enabled operational systems anchored by an integrated Command and Control Centre that enables real-time fleet monitoring and operational oversight.

Mr. Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed Limited, said, “The commencement of electric bus operations in Shillong, Jaipur and Bhilwara marks an important milestone in our larger vision of deploying 3,000 electric buses across 18 cities under the PM e-Bus Sewa and e-Drive Scheme. These deployments reflect the growing momentum of electric mobility adoption across India and reinforce our commitment to delivering reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation solutions. Through continued partnerships with State governments and transport authorities, we aim to make public transit cleaner, more accessible and more efficient while contributing meaningfully to India’s clean mobility journey.”
