SWITCH Mobility has successfully completed the delivery of 100 electric buses to the Government of Mauritius, marking a major milestone in India’s growing role in global clean mobility initiatives. The deployment also stands as the largest export of electric buses from India to date.

The final batch of 90 buses was formally handed over during a high-level government engagement, with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar presenting the buses to Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam. The initiative is part of a government-to-government collaboration aimed at accelerating sustainable public transport in Mauritius.
The buses were procured through an open tender led by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and are now being operated by the National Transport Corporation (NTC), Mauritius’ state-owned transport body. As part of this arrangement, the electric buses have been provided as a donation by the Government of India, reinforcing bilateral cooperation in green mobility.

Built on the SWITCH EiV12 platform, the buses are designed to deliver efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort for urban operations. Each bus offers seating for up to 45 passengers and incorporates advanced features such as SWITCH iON telematics for real-time monitoring, intelligent fleet management and improved operational efficiency. The use of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries ensures better stability through a low centre of gravity, while dual-gun charging enables faster turnaround times for fleet operations.

The deployment aligns with Mauritius’ broader push towards reducing emissions and modernising its public transport infrastructure. For SWITCH Mobility, the project marks a significant step in expanding its global footprint and demonstrating its capability to deliver large-scale electric mobility solutions beyond India.
