DICV brings healthcare closer to truckers with clinic in Sangagiri

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has inaugurated a dedicated physiotherapy and primary healthcare clinic in Sangagiri, Tamil Nadu—one of the state’s key trucking hubs. Set up in partnership with Smile Foundation, the initiative aims to serve around 13,500 beneficiaries, with over 70% from the trucker community.

With long hours, demanding schedules and limited access to healthcare, many drivers face untreated conditions such as musculoskeletal issues, fatigue and lifestyle-related illnesses. The new clinic aims to address this gap by promoting early diagnosis and preventive care.

The facility will offer a range of services including physiotherapy, outpatient consultations, eye check-ups, preventive screenings and referral support for advanced treatment. By combining immediate care with long-term wellness support, the initiative is expected to improve quality of life while reducing healthcare costs for drivers and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Michael Moebius, President & Chief Procurement & Supply Chain Officer, DICV, said the company believes drivers are at the heart of the nation’s mobility ecosystem, and their health directly impacts road safety. Mr. Santanu Mishra, Co-founder of Smile Foundation, added that the initiative aims to bring accessible and quality healthcare closer to an underserved community while encouraging preventive health practices.

The clinic will operate six days a week and be staffed by qualified healthcare professionals, supported by a digital patient management system to ensure efficient service delivery and continuity of care.
