Ultraviolette Raises $85 Million to Scale Manufacturing and Fuel Global Expansion

Ultraviolette announced a new funding round of $85 million, led by Deep Tech Fund Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, with investment from Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International & Advisor to Ultraviolette, alongside the company’s current and long-term investors.

The funding marks an important milestone in Ultraviolette’s journey as it scales manufacturing capabilities, advances its next generation of electric vehicle platforms, and accelerates international expansion. The company is targeting entry into the United States in 2027, alongside broader expansion across Latin America and South-East Asia. The capital will be deployed toward scaling production of its current products, the F77 and X-47, and upcoming products, the Tesseract and Shockwave, to meet growing domestic and international demand. The investment will also support development of Ultraviolette’s next-generation global EV platforms, building on the company’s vertically integrated capabilities across battery technology, power electronics, vehicle architecture, and intelligent software.

Mr. Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International, said what he likes about Ultraviolette is the combination of deep engineering expertise, strong IP, and willingness to take on genuinely difficult problems, noting that the company has built its technology from first principles with a focus on creating something truly differentiated for the long term.

Mr. Ganapathy Subramaniam, Founding Managing Partner, Yali Capital, said India’s shift toward cleaner mobility will increasingly be driven by electric two-wheelers, and that what attracted the firm to Ultraviolette was the depth of in-house engineering across battery, powertrain, software, and radar, along with its focus on real rider needs, especially safety. He pointed to Ultraviolette taking the F77 from concept to roads in India and Europe, and introducing radar-based safety features in a production two-wheeler with the X-47, adding that the upcoming Tesseract will extend this engineering and safety focus to scooters and a wider set of riders.

Mr. Ravi Jain, Investment Director, TDK Ventures, said the adoption of electric two-wheelers can be accelerated by superior products powered by differentiated technology, and that Ultraviolette is well positioned to catalyse this transition and build winning products for global markets.

Ultraviolette Founders Mr. Narayan Subramaniam and Mr. Niraj Rajmohan said the funding round represents an important step in the company’s evolution into a global electric mobility company, with the conviction shown by its investors reinforcing its vision of building a design and tech-focused global brand out of India. They said the investment will enable the company to scale manufacturing, accelerate future product platforms, and deepen its presence across international markets, with a singular focus on becoming a global leader in future mobility.

Ultraviolette has built technical capabilities spanning battery architectures from 48V to 400V, making it one of the only electric vehicle manufacturers globally with in-house capabilities across this range, enabling it to engineer platforms suited to the specific performance, range, thermal management, and packaging requirements of different vehicle segments.
