Scania India Opens New Office, Bets on Growth and Partnerships

Designed around the Scania Way and Swedish open work culture, the office features collaborative spaces and a functional layout, focusing on sustainability through energy-efficient systems and responsible materials.

India, a place where ambition and hope are alive even in an uncertain world, is no longer just a market of potential but “one that is truly unstoppable,” said Mr. Jan Thesleff, Ambassador of Sweden to India.

After inaugurating the new office for Scania Commercial Vehicles India in Bengaluru, he delivered his speech, saying it felt like the right moment to begin again. This is not just a reopening, but the beginning of a new chapter for India. With a fresh workspace, a team of 46 employees, and growing global confidence in India’s future, the company is stepping back into the market at a time when opportunity feels stronger than ever.  Scania believes that it has a natural edge as it returns to India, especially in construction and mining—sectors where its strengths truly matter. With these segments expanding rapidly and gaining momentum across the country, they offer the perfect ground for Scania to rebuild its presence and grow with the market. For Scania, this timing matters, he said, adding that stronger ties between India and Europe, especially the recently concluded Free Trade Agreement, are expected to open new doors for collaboration, investment and long-term growth.

There is also a strong focus on partnerships. Dealers, financial institutions like Axis Bank, and the broader “Team Sweden” ecosystem are seen as key to building a sustainable presence. More importantly, the message was one of collaboration: “India and Sweden are not competitors, but partners working towards shared goals of growth and sustainability,” he said.

For Scania, this restart signals more than intent. As Mr. Martin Stahlberg, EVP, Regional Director AOR Commercial Operations, Region Asia & Oceania, Scania Singapore, noted, it marks a “new era,” where India is seen as a highly strategic growth market. With its global legacy, strong technology base, and an underutilised plant in Bengaluru, the company sees significant headroom for expansion.

According to him, the vision is to move faster, think smarter, and build solutions that are connected, scalable and future-ready. As the idea was put, adopt a “Structured Indian Speed” to match the pace of the market, he pointed out.

Mr. Silvio Munhoz, Managing Director, Scania Commercial Vehicles India, said, “India is a strategically important market for Scania, and our focus is on building a business that is closer to customers, faster in response, and stronger in execution. The new Bengaluru office not only enhances our ability to collaborate more closely with customers and partners but also strengthens our access to a highly skilled talent pool, enabling us to build a future-ready organization. At the same time, our Regional Product Centre in Narasapura remains fully operational with end-to-end capabilities, continuing to support customers with tailored solutions. Through our partnership with Axis Bank, we will be able to offer structured financing solutions that make it easier for customers to invest in high-performance Scania trucks and expand their operations.”

Mr. Munish Sharda, Executive Director, Axis Bank, said, “As the commercial vehicle market evolves towards higher efficiency and sustainability, financing plays a critical role in enabling operators to invest with confidence. Through Scania Financing, powered by Axis Bank, we are combining strong product capability with structured financing expertise to support long-term fleet growth. This partnership reinforces our focus on building solutions-led ecosystems that create durable value for customers.”
