At five in the morning, when highways are calmer and the air still carries a hint of night, Narendra Singh Beniwal is already preparing to move. A quick walk around the truck, checks on oil, water, brakes and lights, a seatbelt clicks, and the BharatBenz container truck eases into motion. It is a routine shaped by discipline and experience, repeated quietly for years.
Narendra is 45 years old and has been driving commercial vehicles since 2007. For the past ten years, he has been a trusted driver with Sure Logitrans Pvt. Ltd., working closely with Mr. Ramratan Singhi. In a profession where continuity is rare, a decade with the same company reflects mutual confidence, reliability and respect-built mile by mile.
His regular route connects Delhi with southern hubs such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Cochin. The journey takes about four days one way and four days on the return, almost always with load. On an average day, Narendra covers close to 700 kilometres, often driving through the night to meet delivery timelines. Roadside hotels or cabin stays are part of the routine, and rest is planned carefully around schedules.
Today, Narendra drives a BharatBenz container truck, a vehicle he speaks about with quiet appreciation. The truck’s stable handling, strong braking and dependable performance matter deeply on long intercity runs. The cabin, he says, makes a real difference. It is spacious, comfortable and designed to reduce fatigue during long hours behind the wheel. Good seating, visibility and a sense of control help him stay alert, while decent mileage ensures smoother planning for long hauls. “When the vehicle supports you,” he feels, “the journey becomes safer and calmer.”
Driving was not something Narendra chose casually. With limited formal education, he stepped into this profession to support his family. Over time, what began as necessity turned into pride in honest work. Years on the road have taught him patience, alertness and restraint. He believes, “A driver’s biggest strength is a calm mind, especially in unpredictable situations.”
Narendra understands the challenges of life on the highway, but he prefers to focus on the purpose behind his work. Every container he drives carries parcels that keep businesses running and people connected. Delivering goods safely and on time gives him a deep sense of satisfaction. “This is our responsibility,” he says. “When the party’s goods reach safely, that is the real achievement.”
Safety remains central to his daily routine. He follows a strict habit of vehicle checks and handles small repairs himself. For larger issues, he immediately informs the company. Over the years, he has developed working knowledge of basic engine behaviour, lighting systems and emergency fixes. He drives within speed limits, wears his seatbelt, follows rules closely and avoids shortcuts. For him, discipline is not an option; it is survival.
His home is in Kosi Kalan, Uttar Pradesh, where his family awaits his return every couple of weeks. Narendra has two children, and they are his greatest source of pride. His daughter is pursuing an MBA, and his son is studying B.Tech. Their education gives meaning to the long days and nights on the road. He manages to go home once every 12 to 15 days, depending on delivery schedules, cherishing those brief but valuable moments.
When asked what he would tell young drivers, his advice is simple and steady. “Learn the vehicle, respect the road, follow rules and stay focused. Truck driving is not just about steering a machine; it is about responsibility.”
