Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ in India, introducing the brand’s first electrified AMG E-Class model to Indian customers. Priced at ₹1.45 crore for the Performance Edition and ₹1.48 crore for the Racing Edition, both ex-showroom, the car is available for booking across all Mercedes-Benz dealerships in India with deliveries commencing immediately.

The AMG E 53 Hybrid pairs a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 330 kW with a 120 kW electric motor integrated into the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission. Combined system output stands at 430 kW — or 585 hp — and 750 Nm of torque, rising to 450 kW and 612 hp with the Race Start function. The result is a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h, extendable to 280 km/h with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.
A 400-volt battery with a gross capacity of 28.6 kWh and 21.2 kWh of usable capacity enables purely electric driving at speeds of up to 140 km/h, with an electric-only range of over 100 km on the WLTP cycle. An 11 kW onboard AC charger is standard, and the battery can also be replenished through regenerative braking. Drivers can choose between seven drive modes, including two hybrid-specific programmes — Electric and Battery Hold — alongside the familiar AMG Dynamic Select options of Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, and Individual.
Handling is managed by AMG Ride Control suspension tuned specifically for this model, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and active rear-axle steering that turns the rear wheels by up to 2.5 degrees in either direction depending on speed — improving agility below 90 km/h and stability above it. An electromechanical brake booster seamlessly blends regenerative and hydraulic braking without the driver noticing the transition.
On the outside, the AMG E 53 Hybrid is distinguished by an illuminated AMG-specific radiator grille, wider front fenders, Turbo Hybrid lettering and E 53 badging with a red surround at the rear, quad round tailpipes, and 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels in matt black with a high-sheen finish. Six exterior colours are offered. Inside, AMG sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather with red contrasting topstitching are standard, alongside the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific displays including AMG Performance and AMG Track Pace menus, and a Burmester 4D surround sound system with 17 speakers, four exciters, and 730 watts of output with Dolby Atmos playback.
