Company to expands electric vehicle deployment across key logistics routes in Rajasthan and Gujarat as part of its decarbonisation strategy

JK Lakshmi Cement, one of India’s prominent cement manufacturers, has achieved nearly 100% electric vehicle (EV)-based clinker dispatches from its Sirohi plant in Rajasthan to its Kalol Grinding Unit in Gujarat.

This milestone demonstrates the company’s commitment to adopting electric mobility for long-haul transportation in the cement industry. The initiative also marks a significant step towards reducing the environmental impact of the company’s logistics operations.

The company has deployed 70+ EVs across key transportation routes connecting Sirohi with its Kalol Grinding Unit, Palanpur Unit and Surat Grinding Unit. To support these operations, JK Lakshmi Cement is collaborating with specialized EV logistics providers SwitchLabs and Billion E. Building on its existing deployment, the company plans to expand its EV fleet to 120 vehicles by March 2027.

Commenting on the initiative, Ms. Vinita Singhania, Chairperson and Managing Director, JK Lakshmi Cement, said, “At JK Lakshmi Cement, we are focused on integrating sustainable practices across our operations while ensuring long-term business efficiency. With a fleet of 70+ electric vehicles currently operating across our logistics network, we are making tangible progress in adopting cleaner transportation solutions. The transition to EV-based clinker dispatches on the Sirohi–Kalol route is an important milestone in this journey and reinforces our commitment to scaling sustainable logistics as part of our broader decarbonisation strategy.”

The EV deployment programme forms an integral part of JK Lakshmi Cement’s sustainability roadmap, of its green logistics and decarbonization strategy, aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing emissions across its value chain. Through the adoption of cleaner transportation solutions and other sustainability-led initiatives, the company continues to advance its long-term ambition of achieving net-zero emissions by 2047.
