Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) under the Government of India’s scheme for the replacement of old trucks and buses in the Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region).

The scheme, approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is funded through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It is being implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The initiative aims to accelerate fleet modernisation, reduce vehicular emissions, and promote the adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles across the NCR.
Under the scheme, BharatBenz will offer an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses. The programme is expected to cover approximately 2.07 lakh commercial vehicles, including around 1.91 lakh trucks and more than 16,329 buses registered in the Delhi-NCR region.
Commenting on the development, Rajiv Chaturvedi, President & Chief Business Officer, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), said: “The Government of India’s vehicle replacement scheme is a significant step towards accelerating fleet modernisation and reducing vehicular emissions in the Delhi-NCR region. We are pleased to support this initiative and contribute to the transition towards cleaner, safer and more efficient transportation. Through BharatBenz’s range of BS-VI commercial vehicles, we look forward to helping customers upgrade their fleets while enhancing productivity, fuel efficiency and overall operational performance.”
The scheme is applicable to BS-IV and older commercial vehicles registered in the region. Eligible vehicle owners can replace their existing vehicles with BS-VI-compliant trucks and buses, cleaner-fuel variants, or electric vehicles, subject to the scheme’s provisions.
In addition to OEM discounts, beneficiaries will be eligible for a range of incentives announced by the Central and State Governments, including interest subvention on vehicle loans, fuel vouchers, registration fee waivers, and motor vehicle tax concessions.
The initiative aligns with BharatBenz’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable mobility and supporting the modernisation of India’s commercial vehicle fleet through safe, efficient and technologically advanced transportation solutions.
