JSW MG Motor India announced that it has crossed the milestone of 1,000 community charger installations under its MG Charge initiative, spanning over 470 sites across the country. With this, the company becomes the first original equipment manufacturer in India to build EV community charging infrastructure at this scale. The installations cover a wide range of locations including residential societies, condominiums, hospitals, campuses, hotels, and industrial parks — reflecting the company’s intent to make EV charging accessible beyond dedicated charging stations.
The company also revealed that its electric vehicles have cumulatively covered over 290 crore green kilometres on Indian roads, equivalent to avoiding 4.17 lakh metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Looking ahead, JSW MG Motor India is preparing to launch three new New Energy Vehicles in CY2026, including the introduction of plug-in hybrid technology — reinforcing its view that India’s sustainability journey is best served by embracing multiple clean mobility technologies.
On the manufacturing front, the company’s Halol plant runs on more than 78% renewable energy, resulting in savings of over 9,300 metric tonnes of carbon emissions. The facility meets nearly 95% of its total power requirements through renewable sources and has reduced water consumption by 23% through process optimisation and recycled water reuse. The plant operates as a Zero External Discharge facility, uses cleaner PNG fuel across all processes, has planted over 11,000 trees, and holds a Zero Waste to Landfill — Gold Maturity certification. Additional green initiatives at the facility include a Miyawaki forest of 5,700 plants, 21 recharge wells, a biogas plant for bio-waste, and a bio-compost machine for canteen and garden waste. Industry 4.0 solutions, including digitisation and IoT, further support the plant’s decarbonisation and energy efficiency efforts.
