At the recent 360 Mobility Expo, Whetron Electronics Co., Ltd. showcased its latest advancements in automotive safety and sensing technology. As a prominent Tier 1 supplier with over 40 years of industry experience, the company continues to bridge the gap between traditional automotive hardware and the high-tech demands of modern electrification and connectivity.
Jason Yang, Taiwan Business Center Manager at Whetron Electronics, sat down to discuss the company’s technological evolution and its strategic expansion into global markets.
Edge Computing and AI Innovation
Whetron’s current portfolio is anchored by sophisticated camera and radar sensing technologies. A major highlight of their current showcase is the integration of Artificial Intelligence directly into their hardware, moving away from centralized processing to a more efficient distributed model.
“For our AI camera technology, we are now implementing edge computing on the front side to significantly reduce the processing load on the vehicle’s central computer or ECU. By handling data processing at the source, information is transmitted much faster, which is critical for real-time safety. This technology is designed for high compatibility, ensuring our AI cameras can match the ECU computers of almost any car brand. It represents our core commitment to evolving within the automotive electronics field, focusing on camera, radar sensing, and remote-control systems,” he stated.
A Tier 1 Strategic Partner
With a client base exceeding 50 global OEMs, Whetron has solidified its position as a primary partner for major automakers. While the company provides solutions for two-wheelers and passenger cars, they have recently identified a surge in the commercial vehicle segment.

“Whetron operates as a premier Tier 1 supplier for automotive electronic systems, serving 50 OEM customers and exporting products to more than 25 countries worldwide. While we do engage with aftermarket distributors when the quantity is sufficient, our primary growth and business volume are driven by our OEM partnerships. Recently, we have seen substantial growth specifically in the OEM sector for our ultrasonic systems and commercial vehicle products. We remain focused on providing high-quality safety systems for the vehicle body that meet the rigorous standards of our global manufacturing partners,” he shared.
Expanding the Global Footprint
Originally founded in Taiwan, Whetron has successfully penetrated the most demanding markets in the world. While Japan remains their largest customer base, the company is now setting its sights on emerging hubs of automotive production.
“Our business originated in Taiwan, and currently, Japan stands as our largest and most important customer. However, as we look toward our global expansion strategy, we see India as a major potential market for our future growth. Shows like the 360 Mobility Expo are essential for us because they allow us to maintain relationships we have built over 20 years. Our primary focus remains on supply chain efficiency and innovation to support these expanding international partnerships,” he added.

As the industry moves toward autonomous driving and smarter cabins, Whetron is doubling down on “Sensor Fusion”, the integration of camera, radar, and ultrasonic data. By focusing on both “Smart Rider” solutions for motorcycles and “Advanced Driver Assistance Systems” (ADAS) for four-wheelers, Whetron is ensuring that safety remains the cornerstone of the mobility revolution.
Following the strategic launch of its new manufacturing facility in Thailand in July 2025, a move specifically designed to serve the local and Southeast Asian markets, Whetron Electronics continues to solidify its leadership in the global automotive supply chain, guided by its core philosophy of innovation, perfection, and reciprocity.
