KM Trans Logistics has long established itself as one of India’s most trusted names in surface transport; with a presence that spans every corner of the country and a fleet serving industries as diverse as steel, automobiles, tractors, lubricants, FMCG, and minerals. Speaking to MOTORINDIA, Anuj Jain, Director, KM Trans Logistics, shares how the company is now steering into a new phase of operational excellence through its growing partnership with Eicher Trucks and Buses. The collaboration, he says, is helping KM Trans enhance fleet performance, driver comfort, and service reliability; all aligned with its long-term vision of sustainable, technology-led logistics.
Jaipur based, KM Trans Logistics’ journey is defined by scale, diversification, and a relentless focus on dependable service. Established in 1988, the company today operates one of India’s largest logistics fleets; more than 2,400 trucks and trailers traversing every part of the country.

“We operate across India with a strong and balanced presence across regions,” says Anuj Jain, Director of KM Trans Logistics. “Our business portfolio spans across steel, automobiles, tractors, lubricants, FMCG, and minerals. Within the truck fleets, around 1,200 are steel carriers, 800 are car carriers, 200 are tractor carriers, and another 200 are containerized trucks and trailers.”
Eicher Partnership: Powering the Next Phase of Growth
A significant turning point in KM Trans’s journey came in 2023 when the company partnered with Eicher Trucks and Buses. What began as a pilot with 25 Eicher Pro 6055 tractor-trailers in the steel division soon evolved into a full-fledged relationship.

“After observing their performance for nearly two years, we were convinced,” says Anuj Jain. “In FY 2024–25, we added another 75 Pro 6055 trailers along with 35 Eicher Pro 3015, 6035, 6042, and 6046 rigid trucks, taking our total Eicher fleet strength to nearly 150 vehicles in just two years.”
The collaboration, he explains, wasn’t just about adding numbers; it was about enhancing operational reliability, fuel efficiency, and service responsiveness. “The fuel mileage has been very satisfactory, often slightly better than some competitors in specific routes. But more than numbers, it’s the service support that stands out. The Eicher team took genuine interest in our operations, understood our challenges, and acted quickly to minimize downtime. That responsiveness builds trust,” he emphasizes.

Anuj highlights one remarkable sign of success: “Among the 25 trucks purchased in 2023, not a single driver has switched vehicles. Drivers have accepted Eicher wholeheartedly, and that speaks volumes. When a driver chooses to stay with a vehicle, it means he feels confident, comfortable, and proud to operate it.”
Technology and Transparency: Keeping the Fleet Future-Ready
Eicher’s new-generation products have complemented KM Trans’s long-standing focus on technology and transparency. “The latest Eicher trucks come with advanced telematics, fuel management analytics, and driver performance tracking, which align perfectly with our operational priorities,” Anuj notes.

“We’ve always believed that digital systems improve accountability. That’s why we adopted ERP systems years ago and mandate dual GPS tracking on every vehicle; one for our clients and one for our own monitoring. This ensures full visibility and trust on both sides.”
Even during demonetization, the company’s preparedness set it apart. “Our drivers already had bank accounts, and transactions were fully digital, so we didn’t lose a single day of operation,” recalls Anuj. “That incident reinforced how being ahead in digitization pays off.”
While KM Trans continues to experiment with video telematics and dashcams, Anuj says the ROI remains limited due to the company’s already low accident rate. “We’ve consistently maintained one of the lowest accident ratios per million kilometers in the industry. Safety isn’t just a checklist for us; it’s embedded in our culture.”
Safety and Service: A Shared Philosophy
Safety remains central to KM Trans’s operations, strengthened through a long-standing partnership with Chola MS (Murugappa Group). Together, they conduct pre-trip and post-trip counselling, vehicle inspections, and mystery audits, ensuring that every driver is road-ready.
Complementing this is Eicher’s Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) support, which ensures reliability and predictable operating costs. “Since Eicher trucks were new to us, we opted for the 6-year, 6-lakh km AMC. That gives us OEM-backed peace of mind and cost visibility,” says Anuj. The company’s own authorized workshop, recognized by major OEMs further underlines KM Trans’s technical strength and disciplined maintenance culture.
Evolving Market, Evolving Fleet
The transport landscape is changing fast, and KM Trans has been quick to adapt. “The automobile carrier segment has seen a shift,” Anuj explains. “With railways beginning to take a larger share, long-haul routes have shortened; drivers now go from Gurgaon to Nagpur instead of Kochi. While this reduces fatigue, it increases waiting time for return loads.”
Conversely, the steel logistics segment is booming. “Government infrastructure spending has driven steel demand. Producers are expanding capacity, and we expect this momentum to continue for the next decade,” he says. Today, the company’s business mix is roughly 45–50% steel, 40% automobiles, and 15–20% tractors and containerized loads.
Human Values: The Core of KM Trans
Even with growing scale and technology, Anuj insists that logistics remains a people-driven business. “The biggest challenge today is the shortage of drivers. It’s not a myth. Drivers face long separations from family, irregular work hours, and lack of social respect. Society needs to value their contribution far more.”
KM Trans addresses this challenge by investing in driver dignity and welfare. “We treat every driver with respect. When one visits my cabin, I ensure he sits comfortably, we talk, and his problem is heard. These small gestures matter. We aren’t just a transport company; we’re an HR company.”
The company’s welfare initiatives include comprehensive insurance, medical coverage, and family assistance. “We’ve helped driver families receive settlements up to ₹35–40 lakh in unfortunate cases. We have a team that coordinates with insurers, OEMs, and oil firms to make sure families get timely support.”
KM Trans also runs a driver training and rest facility with dormitories, sanitation, and learning spaces. “Even a little respect and comfort go a long way,” Anuj says. With around 3,000 drivers employed, the company maintains a careful rotation between on-road and off-road duties, ensuring rest, readiness, and retention.
Looking Forward: Scale, Credibility, and Partnership
As the logistics industry consolidates, Anuj sees opportunity for organized players like KM Trans. “Smaller operators are struggling with compliance and rising costs. The future belongs to structured, credible companies who can deliver consistently.”
He believes partnerships like the one with Eicher will play a defining role. “Their vehicles, service network, and proactive engagement have supported our uptime goals and helped us plan growth with confidence. It’s not just about selling trucks; it’s about building trust.”
And trust, he adds, remains KM Trans’s strongest currency. “Once a client gives us a job, it’s completed; safely, on time, and without excuses. That’s our commitment.”
From a modest start in the 1980s to a 2,400-vehicle fleet serving India’s largest industries, KM Trans Logistics has built a legacy anchored in reliability, partnerships, and people.
“Technology and vehicles are enablers,” Anuj concludes. “But what truly moves this business forward are people – drivers, customers, and our team. We may move goods across India, but what we really deliver every day is trust.”
