On the sidelines of the Summit, Rajesh Rajgor caught up with Hanna Cordes, Global GTM Head and Pradeep Ramachandra, CTO of Bosch MPS, to understand the rationale behind the Summit, India’s strategic role in Bosch’s global plans, and the evolving mobility ecosystem.

What was the rationale behind organising the first-ever Bosch MPS Summit in Bengaluru, India? How do you see this platform integrating technology players and making digital solutions accessible to the mid-sized market in India?

Hanna Cordes: We are very excited to launch our first global Bosch Mobility Platform and Solutions Summit here in Bengaluru. It’s been a long journey, with our core vision—creating mobility without side effects— guiding us. I am referring to negative externalities like emissions and accidents, which Bosch aims to eliminate through its digital platforms for technology players. The idea behind the summit is to bring together the entire ecosystem of mobility players, including logistics service providers, fleet management companies, startups, and technology innovators. We believe that real market transformation can only happen when we build and activate such ecosystems. Our approach is platform based, and you can see that in action here at the summit.

How does India feature in Bosch’s global technology strategy, particularly in the digital space?

Hanna Cordes: That’s a great question. India plays a crucial role in Bosch’s digital transformation. Interestingly, even though Bosch is still relatively new in the digital space, we’ve seen India leapfrogging certain technological developments, which in turn helps us fast-track innovations. We work closely with local channel partners and startups because we recognise that we can’t solve complex challenges alone. India, being a high-volume and high-growth market, also allows us to test and scale solutions that can later be implemented globally.

Could you share examples of how businesses in India—especially small and medium enterprises—are adopting Bosch’s digital platforms? Which verticals have shown the most promise?

Hanna Cordes: Logistics is a great example. We’ve seen a new generation of young entrepreneurs taking over traditional, family-owned logistics businesses. This group has been incredibly open to adopting technology. For them, digital solutions are not just an investment but a means to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and even grow revenues. That space has been one of our strongest starting points, though our solutions extend well beyond logistics, into EV mobility, intelligent parking, and supply chain management.

With all the shifts happening in the automotive industry—from ICE emission changes to the rise of hybrids and EVs—what are Bosch’s immediate focus areas under the MPS framework?

Hanna Cordes: Our focus always starts with the customer and market needs. At Bosch MPS, we’re structured around three key verticals: logistics, people movement, and parking/space utilisation. Horizontally, we’re working on digital infrastructure, platform tech stacks, and an e-commerce layer to enable seamless digital deployment and distribution. This layered approach helps us remain agile and relevant across the mobility value chain.

Pradeep, could you share how Bosch is integrating technology and collaborating with partners for a unified mobility ecosystem in India?

Pradeep Ramachandra: Thank you for having me, Rajesh. At Bosch MPS, we approach this as a partner-driven, digitally native platform company. Our holistic approach focuses on working closely with our partners, understanding ground-level challenges, and identifying friction points. By collaborating with innovators, we bring relevant solutions to the table and co-create ways to address industry-specific issues. The summit here in Bengaluru is an exemplary platform to unite everyone and work together towards these goals.

With so many collaborators and a common goal for a unified mobility ecosystem, could you walk us through some recent advancements in product development, particularly integrating mobility across various sectors—from two-wheelers to commercial vehicles?

Pradeep Ramachandra: Bosch’s strength lies in our presence inside the vehicle. We enable a wide range of mobility solutions, from engine management systems and connected solutions in two-wheelers, to safety solutions in passenger vehicles, and even multi-axle vehicles. The shift now is toward optimizing the operation of vehicles. With over 1.3 billion vehicles on the road globally, there’s significant room to improve business processes—whether it’s moving people, goods, or optimizing parked vehicles. Our digital initiative aims to bring together partners to optimize these business processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

Bosch is promoting partner booths for different solutions at the summit, including documentation management, electrification, driver management, and services for logistics providers. How do you plan to guide stakeholders in implementing these solutions?

Pradeep Ramachandra: We address this challenge both horizontally and vertically. When you trace the journey of goods or people—from farm to fork or home to office—you uncover various friction points that need addressing. Our enablement platforms focus on horizontal solutions like digital infrastructure and document management, while vertical solutions tackle specific areas like warehouse optimization or parking management. For instance, transitioning from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles, we identify and resolve the inhibitors in the EV ecosystem. All our partner booths reflect this co-creation, offering either enabler solutions or verticalized solutions tailored to industry problems.

With these mobility platforms and solutions ready, how is the industry shifting its mindset? How do you train, support, and implement these solutions for customers, whether logistics providers, EV players, or parking system integrators?

Pradeep Ramachandra: We believe that when the industry is already looking for comprehensive solutions to their problems. We just need to know how to connect the two dots. Our approach is to make the purpose personal and connected to the audience. We focus on addressing pain points—whether it’s cost sensitivity or the ability to improve turnover and increase the value of existing assets. By speaking the language of the industry and understanding their bottom-line concerns, we make the transition smoother. Early adopters pave the way, while fast followers join once they see the benefits. This is how we’re driving change in the market.
