Tesla Brings the Model Y Premium to India at ₹50.89 Lakh

Tesla has introduced the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India, adding a new variant of the world’s best-selling electric vehicle to its growing lineup in the country. Priced at ₹50,89,000, the Model Y Premium is available to order now with deliveries beginning in July 2026.

The new variant comes with a set of interior and hardware upgrades over the standard Model Y. The cabin gets a fully blacked-out headliner and premium trim in an all-black finish, with a Zen Grey interior offered as an alternative for buyers who prefer a lighter, more minimalist look. The first-row touchscreen has been upgraded to 16 inches, with improved responsiveness and a faster, more intuitive interface. The car offers 2,138 litres of storage space with power-folding rear seats, seating for up to five passengers, a range of up to 500 km on the WLTP cycle, and a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 5.9 seconds.

To make ownership more accessible, Tesla is offering the Model Y Premium at a monthly EMI starting at ₹39,990 with a down payment of ₹6 lakh. The company also estimates that switching from a conventional petrol vehicle to the Model Y Premium can save owners up to ₹20,000 a month in fuel and maintenance costs — bringing the effective monthly ownership cost down to as little as ₹19,990.

Ms. Isabel Fan, Senior Director, Tesla, said, “Tesla’s mission is to build a world of amazing abundance. Tesla enables the use of electric vehicles by increasing the accessibility of Tesla technology and providing charging solutions around people’s lifestyles. Tesla will keep investing in the country to create a seamless EV experience in India, with more retail coverage, after-sales services and charging locations coming soon.”

The Model Y Premium joins the recently launched Model Y L six-seater, which was introduced in India last month at a starting price of ₹61,99,000. The Model Y L offers a three-row layout, a 681 km WLTP range, 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, and up to 2,539 litres of cargo space. Both variants have received top safety ratings from NHTSA and IIHS in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand, and C-IASI in China.

Tesla has also rolled out a Home Charging Programme covering all states in India, and says it will continue to expand its public charging network, retail presence, and after-sales service across the country.
