Tata Sierra Goes Software-Defined with Excelfore’s OTA Platform

Excelfore has partnered with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) to deploy a standards-based over-the-air (OTA) update and remote diagnostics platform, debuting with the new Tata Sierra. The move marks a significant step towards bringing software-defined vehicle (SDV) capabilities into large-scale production.

The Tata Sierra has been designed as a software-first vehicle, with OTA updates and diagnostics built into its core architecture. This allows the vehicle to continuously evolve over time, with new features, improvements and fixes delivered remotely throughout its lifecycle.

At the heart of the system is Excelfore’s eSync OTA solution, running on AWS IoT Core, enabling secure and seamless software management across the vehicle’s entire electronic architecture. The platform supports advanced capabilities such as remote updates, system monitoring, and multi-ECU coordination, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.

Built on global industry standards, the solution enhances interoperability and scalability, allowing Tata Motors to manage connected vehicle fleets more effectively without dependence on proprietary systems.

Mr. Shrinath Acharya, CEO, Excelfore, said, “Cars with internal combustion engines are not going away anytime soon. The Tata Sierra is an inspiring example of how a great name in the market can be brought forward to the status of a software-defined vehicle.”
