Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (TMPV) on Tuesday announced the prices of the much-awaited Harrier and Safari petrol SUVs, marking the debut of the all-new 1.5L HYPERION Turbo-GDi engine in its flagship SUV portfolio. The Harrier Petrol has been priced from ₹12.89 lakh, while the Safari Petrol starts at ₹13.29 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Positioned competitively in the premium SUV segment, the petrol-powered Harrier and Safari bring a host of luxury and technology features typically seen in higher segments. These include a 36.9 cm cinematic infotainment display powered by Samsung NeoQLED, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, Vision-X E-IRVM with built-in dual dash camera and DVR, VisionSync memory ORVMs with auto reverse dip, and a ClearView dual camera washer system.
At the heart of the update is the new 1.5L HYPERION Turbo-GDi petrol engine, which Tata Motors says has been engineered to deliver a balance of strong performance and segment-best fuel efficiency. Leveraging advanced engine technologies along with AI and ML, the powertrain offers refined city drivability, strong highway stability, and best-in-class NVH levels. The engine has been tuned to deliver a smooth, quiet and confident driving experience across urban and long-distance use cases.
Safety continues to be a key pillar for the brand, with all Harrier and Safari variants powered by the HYPERION petrol engine achieving a perfect 5-star rating under Bharat NCAP. With this, the entire Harrier and Safari portfolio is now fully 5-star certified.
Commenting on the introduction of the new petrol powertrain, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, said the Harrier and Safari have together crossed 2.5 lakh units on Indian roads, reflecting their strong acceptance among customers. He noted that the HYPERION engine further strengthens the SUVs’ core attributes of design, performance and safety.
According to Mr. Srivatsa, the Harrier’s bold and dynamic character is now enhanced by the new engine’s power and refined driving feel, while the Safari’s legacy as a premium, aspirational SUV is reinforced through a serene, silent and technology-rich performance. He added that the new HyperEfficient powertrain delivers best-in-segment efficiency, smoothness and refinement, aligning well with the expectations of modern Indian customers who seek both intelligence and indulgence in their vehicles.
