Tata Motors Ltd has marked a major innovation milestone in FY26 by filing 144 patent applications—the highest ever in a single year for its commercial vehicle business.
The filings reflect the company’s strong focus on advancing vehicle safety, reliability, total cost of ownership and occupant comfort. They also align with its long-term strategy of building future-ready mobility solutions, including work in electric vehicles and hydrogen-based internal combustion technologies.
Beyond patents, Tata Motors further expanded its intellectual property portfolio with 21 design applications and 35 copyright filings during the year. The company also secured 15 patent grants, taking its total number of granted patents to over 650.
The achievement underlines OEM’s continued push to embed innovation across its product and engineering ecosystem. It also reinforces its positioning as a key player driving technological advancement in the commercial vehicle space.
