Shivendra Kumar Soni, aka Shiv, has been at the heart of his small but bustling workshop cum store, Shiv Auto Electric, for nearly two decades at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. For him, every morning starts at 10 AM, when he unlocks his shop near the railway station, ready to take on the day’s challenges. His hands, hardened by years of work, are always busy—checking batteries, replacing faulty ones, and ensuring that every vehicle that enters his shop leaves in a better shape than before.

Unlike large commercial truck workshops, Shiv specializes in passenger vehicles—small cars, auto-rickshaws, and tractors. On an average, he services around 7-8 vehicles per day, often diagnosing battery issues that customers don’t even realize they have. “Many people ignore their battery until one day their car won’t start,” Shiv says with a knowing smile.
One of his most trusted products is Tata Green Battery. Shiv swears by its reliability and durability. “Tata Green Batteries are the most preferred by my customers,” he explains. “It lasts longer, gives fewer problems and I can confidently tell my customers that they won’t have to worry for a long time.” In peak season, he sells around 40-45 batteries a month, largely for tractors. “Farmers need their tractors running smoothly and a good battery is a must for that,” he says.
Over the years, Shiv has built a reputation not just as a technician but as a trusted advisor. He doesn’t just sell batteries; he educates his customers. He reminds them to check battery water levels regularly, advises them on proper maintenance and even makes house calls for check-ups every few months.
But Shiv’s journey hasn’t been easy. The rise of electric vehicles is slowly changing the industry and while he hasn’t started servicing EV batteries yet, he knows the future is shifting. “Right now, my focus is on what I do best. But if EVs become the norm, I’ll adapt,” he says thoughtfully.
Despite the long hours—his shop closes only at 8 PM—Shiv finds happiness in his work. “When a customer leaves with a working car, knowing they can trust me, that’s my biggest satisfaction,” he says. His dream is to expand his business, maybe even open another branch in the future. For now, he’s content being the go-to man for battery solutions in his town, making sure that no journey is ever stalled because of a dead battery.
