MG Group Builds Smarter, Thinks Global

Anil Mohan Kamat, CMD

The company’s growth has been closely aligned with the evolution of India’s bus body building sector, says Mr. Anil Mohan Kamat, Chairman & Managing Director, MG Group.

The Indian commercial vehicle and bus mobility industry is entering one of its most transformative decades. By 2030, “we expect five major trends to redefine the sector, Mr. Kamat said.

First, safety and regulatory compliance will become the foundation of product development. The increasing adoption of advanced safety standards and vehicle regulations will drive higher-quality, safer and more reliable buses and coaches.

Second, premiumisation and passenger experience will accelerate. Fleet operators are increasingly demanding vehicles that offer superior comfort, aesthetics, reduced lifecycle costs and enhanced reliability, making quality a key differentiator.

Third, sustainability and clean mobility will gather significant momentum. While electrification will continue to expand, multiple propulsion technologies—including alternate fuels and hybrid solutions—will coexist based on operating economics and application requirements.

Fourth, digitalisation and connected mobility will reshape fleet management. Predictive maintenance, telematics, intelligent diagnostics and data-driven decision-making will improve fleet uptime, operating efficiency and customer experience.

Finally, greater collaboration across the mobility ecosystem—between OEMs, body builders, technology providers and financial institutions—will become essential to deliver integrated mobility solutions rather than standalone products.

Beyond Today

“Our vision towards 2030 is to strengthen our position as one of India’s most respected bus, coach and application solutions company by combining engineering excellence, manufacturing capability and customer-centric innovation,” he said.

The group’s priorities span premium coaches, staff transport, school buses, and emerging mobility segments, backed by investment in advanced manufacturing, lightweight materials, safety, and digital integration. It is equally committed to strong OEM and fleet operator partnerships, continuous innovation, and uncompromising quality, reliability, and service.

“India is poised to become a global hub for bus and coach manufacturing. With improving infrastructure, supportive policy initiatives, growing public transport investments and increasing demand for world-class mobility solutions, the industry has an unprecedented opportunity to lead not only domestic growth but also global markets.

As we move towards 2030, the industry’s success will be defined by innovation, safety, sustainability and collaboration. The bus has evolved from being simply a mode of transport to becoming an integral part of the overall travel experience. While we take pride in our achievements, we recognise that they form part of a much larger story—the collective progress of an industry that has consistently adapted to changing technologies, regulations and customer needs,” Mr. Kamat added.

“MG Group’s commitment is to build mobility solutions that are technologically ahead, customer-driven, and competitive on the world stage.”
