Maruti Suzuki Doubles Kharkhoda Capacity, Strengthens India Manufacturing Push

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commenced commercial production at the second plant of its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana, further strengthening its production footprint in India. The foundation stone for the Kharkhoda facility was laid by Mr. Narendra Modi in August 2022.

The newly operational second plant has an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units, taking the total capacity at the Kharkhoda facility to 5 lakh units per year. With this expansion, Maruti Suzuki’s overall annual manufacturing capacity across its plants in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, along with Hansalpur in Gujarat, has increased to 26.5 lakh units.

The company said the capacity addition aligns with its previously announced plan to add 5 lakh units of production capacity during FY2026-27. Once fully operational, the Kharkhoda facility is expected to become one of Suzuki Motor Corporation’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing hubs globally, with a planned annual production capacity of one million vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki currently manufactures the compact SUV Maruti Suzuki Brezza and mid-size SUV Victoris at the Kharkhoda facility, reinforcing the company’s focus on the fast-growing SUV segment in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
