Hyundai Motor India Limited has formally entered the commercial mobility space with the launch of its dedicated taxi portfolio, Prime HB and Prime SD, marking a strategic expansion beyond personal mobility. Designed specifically for fleet operators and taxi entrepreneurs, the new Prime range brings Hyundai’s strengths of reliability, comfort and low cost of ownership into the high-usage commercial segment, where uptime and earnings per kilometre are critical.

Both Prime HB, a hatchback, and Prime SD, a sedan, are powered by Hyundai’s proven 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine with petrol and CNG options, aimed at keeping operating costs low while maximising returns for operators. The Prime HB is priced from ₹5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD starts at ₹6.89 lakh. Bookings are open across Hyundai dealerships nationwide with a token amount of ₹5,000, making entry easy for both first-time and expanding fleet owners.
Announcing the launch, Hyundai Motor India Limited said the Prime range has been engineered around the real-world needs of commercial customers. Mr. Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO-designate, noted that taxi drivers and fleet operators value predictable maintenance, high uptime and strong resale value. He added that the Prime HB and Prime SD are backed by Hyundai’s nationwide service network, extended warranty options, low running costs and flexible finance solutions, helping operators improve earnings while offering safe and comfortable transport to passengers.
To further reduce ownership stress, Hyundai is offering special extended warranty packages covering the fourth and fifth year or up to 1.8 lakh kilometres, whichever comes earlier, for high-running vehicles. With an estimated total cost of ownership as low as 47 paise per kilometre, along with finance tenures of up to 72 months, the Prime range is positioned as a practical and affordable solution for commercial buyers. Dedicated Fleet Care Advisors at dealerships will support taxi and fleet customers, ensuring faster service turnaround and better vehicle availability.
The Prime HB and Prime SD also focus strongly on comfort and safety, addressing both driver fatigue and passenger experience. Features include six airbags, rear AC vents, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering-mounted controls, fast USB Type-C charging, rear parking sensors, rear defogger, central locking and emergency stop signal. A company-fitted speed limiter capped at 80 km/h reinforces safety compliance, while select features such as rear adjustable headrests and keyless entry are offered on the Prime HB.
With fuel efficiency rated at 27.32 km/kg for the Prime HB and 28.40 km/kg for the Prime SD, Hyundai expects the new range to appeal strongly to operators focused on daily running economics. The launch signals Hyundai’s intent to build a broader commercial mobility ecosystem in India, extending its promise of hassle-free ownership and dependable engineering to a segment where every kilometre directly impacts livelihood.
