In an insightful interview with Rajesh Rajgor at Automechanika Frankfurt 2024, Nitin Santoki, CEO of Galaxy Bearings, shared the company’s vision for growth in the Indian manufacturing sector. He highlighted the introduction of a hub bearing system that simplifies installation, as well as plans to launch spherical roller bearings in 2025. With a new facility set to boost production capacity and a focus on electric vehicle advancements, Galaxy Bearings aims to enhance both its domestic and export markets. Santoki emphasized their commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, positioning the company for significant future success.
At Automechanika Frankfurt 2024, Nitin Santoki, CEO of Galaxy Bearings, shared an optimistic outlook for the company and the broader Indian manufacturing sector. He emphasized that each year, Galaxy Bearings is committed to expanding its product offerings and enhancing customer satisfaction. “2024 has been a bright year for Galaxy Bearings, as we continuously add new products and features while increasing our guarantee to ensure customers enjoy more mileage,” he stated.
One of the standout innovations introduced by Galaxy Bearings is the hub bearing system, which aligns with the “fit and forget” concept prevalent in developed markets. Santoki explained, “We provide a complete solution for our customers, and they are truly happy with the results.” This approach not only simplifies the installation process but also allows customers to save time by receiving fully fitted bearings directly from the factory.
Traditionally, customers have had to fit bearings into hubs themselves, a process that can be time-consuming and costly, especially in regions with high labor expenses. Santoki noted, “By fitting bearings in-house, we ensure all parameters match perfectly, allowing customers to avoid waiting times and receive high-quality products.” This streamlined process creates a win-win situation, benefitting both the customers and the company.
Currently, Galaxy Bearings specializes in taper roller bearings, but Santoki announced plans to diversify their product line by introducing spherical roller bearings in 2025. “We are excited to launch this product for heavy machinery applications, featuring diameters of about 300 mm,” he said. This new offering aims to meet the growing demand from industries seeking a one-stop solution for their bearing needs.
To accommodate this expansion, Galaxy Bearings recently added a 15,000-square-meter facility to their existing operations. Santoki shared, “With this addition, we are increasing our capacity from 3 million to 5 million bearings annually within the next few years.” Looking ahead, he anticipates that by 2028, their capacity could reach around 9 million bearings per year.
As the company navigates the evolving market landscape, Santoki highlighted their focus on research and development, particularly in response to inquiries related to electric vehicle (EV) concepts. “We are actively working in our R&D department to align our products with these emerging requirements,” he explained, reflecting Galaxy Bearings’ commitment to innovation.
Currently, Galaxy Bearings exports about 85% of its products, with the remaining 15% serving the domestic market. However, Santoki expressed confidence in growing the domestic market share, especially with the impending introduction of spherical roller bearings. “Our main target for this year is to enhance our presence in the domestic market, particularly for trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery,” he noted.
Galaxy Bearings is poised for significant growth, with a clear strategy focused on product innovation, customer satisfaction, and capacity expansion. As Santoki concluded, “This platform at Automechanika Frankfurt provides the perfect opportunity for Galaxy Bearings to showcase our commitment to excellence on a global scale.”
