Elektrobit, an automotive software company, and Microchip Technology, a semiconductor supplier, have announced a collaboration to simplify and speed up AUTOSAR-based software development for automotive manufacturers and suppliers using Microchip’s automotive platforms. They say carmakers and Tier 1 suppliers are under pressure to shorten development cycles as vehicles become software-defined, without compromising safety, quality or flexibility.

Customers will get pre-integrated AUTOSAR Microcontroller Abstraction Layer software based on Elektrobit’s EB tresos portfolio. The companies say this reduces integration complexity and project risk, so developers can concentrate on applications and vehicle differentiation. Elektrobit also uses “integration-as-code” to turn repeatable Classic AUTOSAR integration work into reusable, executable logic, which it says lays the groundwork for future AI-assisted software configuration.
Elektrobit has already enabled EB tresos AutoCore OS and AutoCore Generic modules on Microchip’s SAMA5 series of microprocessors, available to customers now, with more platforms to follow. Initial market activity will focus on high-growth segments in Asia, including two-wheelers, with broader opportunities across Asia and North America.
Mr. Mark Reiten of Microchip said the collaboration makes it easier for developers to move from platform evaluation to production deployment. Mr. Jaganathan Rajagopalan of Elektrobit said it pairs proven automotive software foundations with ready-to-use hardware support to bring software-defined vehicle innovations to market faster and with lower integration risk.
