EKA Mobility & Chartered Speed Win Order for 1,750 E-Buses in Bengaluru

EKA Mobility and Chartered Speed Limited, a leading passenger mobility operator, have received the Letter of Confirmation of Quantity (LOCQ) for deploying 1,750 electric buses in Bengaluru under the Government of India’s PM E-Drive Scheme. The award marks a major boost for Bengaluru’s transition toward a cleaner, electric public transport network.

The allocation accounts for nearly 39% of the city’s planned induction of 4,500 electric buses under the scheme, highlighting Chartered Speed’s key role in Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s ongoing electrification efforts. Bengaluru has been one of India’s fastest adopters of electric public transport, supported by Karnataka’s clean mobility vision and India’s national decarbonisation roadmap.

Chartered Speed places strong emphasis on commuter safety across its electric fleet. The company follows structured protocols including preventive maintenance, continuous battery health monitoring, and specialised training programmes for EV drivers. By combining Chartered Speed’s on-ground operational expertise with EKA Mobility’s manufacturing and electric drivetrain capabilities, the partnership aims to enhance the quality, accessibility and reliability of Bengaluru’s daily commute.

“The PM E-Drive initiative is a powerful catalyst for India’s electric mobility transition, and Bengaluru’s large-scale adoption of electric buses is setting a national benchmark,” said Mr. Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility. “For us, this is not just about numbers—it is about building cleaner cities, quieter streets, and better everyday mobility.”

Mr. Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed Limited, added, “Bengaluru is one of India’s most important mobility hubs, and electric buses are central to improving both efficiency and environmental outcomes. As an early adopter of e-mobility, we aim to convert around 25% of our fleet to electric by FY27, supported by strong infrastructure development.”

Earlier in 2025, Chartered Speed secured an order for more than 1,000 electric buses under the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme. With this latest allocation, the company further expands its position as one of India’s leading operators driving the shift toward sustainable mass mobility.
