Ashok Leyland Launches New AVTR Range of Trucks with Air Suspension

Ashok Leyland has introduced India’s first range of trucks equipped with air suspension, marking another technology first for the Hinduja Group’s flagship commercial vehicle brand. The company has launched three new models under its AVTR platform: the AVTR 4925 10×2 MAV, a 49-tonne truck with a payload advantage of 1.5 tonnes; the AVTR 4625 10×2 MAV, a 46-tonne truck with a payload advantage of four tonnes; and the AVTR 4525 8×2 MAV, a 45-tonne truck also offering a 4-tonne payload advantage. All three are firsts in their respective weight categories in India.

The air suspension system at the heart of these trucks delivers a range of operational benefits over conventional suspension setups. It improves vehicle stability when fully loaded, reduces vibrations and road shocks, and provides noticeably better ride comfort on uneven or undulating roads. The system also contributes to longer tyre life and, since the rear suspension requires no greasing, significantly reduces maintenance requirements over the vehicle’s life. Together, these factors are expected to improve the total cost of ownership for fleet operators, while the higher payload capacity directly increases revenue potential per trip.

Mr. Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, said the launch reinforces the company’s long-standing position as a technology leader in India’s commercial vehicle industry, with a focus on delivering solutions that create meaningful value for customers. Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, President of MHCV at Ashok Leyland, added that the new range was developed with customer needs for efficiency, reliability, and lower operating costs firmly in mind.

The trucks are available in both cowl and cabin configurations, with multiple loading span options to suit different operational requirements. Standard equipment includes iVAC, an intelligent vehicle acceleration control system, and ATC, an automatic traction control system, both of which support better fuel efficiency and improved traction across varied terrain.
