All-India Omni Bus Owners Association hosts 3-day Passenger Vehicle Expo in Chennai

The All-India Omni Bus Owners Association (AIOBOA) organized a three-day ‘Passenger Vehicle Expo’, at the Chennai Trade Center in Chennai from 14th to 16th December 2023. The event was inaugurated by Venkatesh Balasubramanian, Professor and faculty head of the Centre of Excellence in Road Safety (CoERS) at IIT Madras, who lit the traditional lamp.

During the inauguration, the Professor commended the efforts of the All-India Omni Bus Owners Association and its President, Anbazhagan, for hosting such a significant event. He urged Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), stakeholders, and transport sector aggregators to prioritize safety in their vehicles. Professor Balasubramanian emphasized the importance of the Passenger Vehicle Expo as a valuable platform for end users.

Highlighting the focus on road safety, he mentioned that the Centre of Excellence in Road Safety at IIT Madras is actively working on enhancing safety in transportation and reducing road accidents. Professor Balasubramanian called upon industry professionals and policymakers to adopt safety measures in the field.

Dr. G Umadevi, Professor at Anna University and Founder of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Systems Research (CMDSR), emphasized Tamil Nadu’s economic prominence. She mentioned the establishment of fifteen centers by Anna University Vice Chancellor Velraj, including the multi-disciplinary system center. Umadevi acknowledged the dynamic nature of the transportation business and emphasized its broader impact on various sectors.

The exhibition featured a display of luxurious buses, high-end vans, and attention-catching cars, catering to diverse passenger segments, corporate clients, school travel, and tours. Several prominent names, industry leaders, lesser-known brands, and new exhibitors participated in the expo. Notable exhibitors included Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Eicher, Volvo, Force Motors, MG Bus and Coach, Arrow Coach Builders, Wheels India Limited, Bosch, TVS Mobility, Nuego, Abhi Bus, Valeo, Ster, HIM Imperial Auto Glass Works, Quik Bus, Vijay Trucking, eZeeinfo, Liquiconnect, Govind Motors, Vassmann, ITDP India, Jindal Stainless Limited, Madras Industries Engineering, PNR Travels, Sri Murugan Paints, Aero Don Chopper, and others.

Key figures such as Anbazhagan, President of the All-India Omni Bus Owners Association; Thiru Gnana Sambantham, Secretary; Tajudeen, Treasurer; Prem Ananth Surendran, Chief Planner of Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA); and V Senthil Kumaran, Managing Director of Garuda, and many others actively participated and shared their insights during the inaugural ceremony of the event which saw very good footfall of business visitors on all three days.
