50:50 JV company ‘ACE KATO’ to manufacture truck cranes, crawler cranes and rough terrain cranes
Action Construction Equipment Ltd. (ACE), the world’s largest pick-and-carry crane manufacturer and India’s leading material handling and construction equipment company, has entered into a strategic joint venture with Kato Works Co., Ltd., Japan, a globally recognised player with decades of experience in the design, development and manufacturing of mobile cranes, excavators and related construction machinery.

The joint venture, ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd., will bring together Kato Works’ global technology, design and engineering expertise with Action Construction Equipment Limited’s strong manufacturing base, extensive market reach and operational capabilities in India. The collaboration aims to enhance product competitiveness by improving performance and cost efficiency, while enabling both companies to capitalise on emerging growth opportunities across domestic and international markets.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader manufacturing ambitions under ‘Make in India’, contributing to the development of a globally competitive construction equipment industry that supports the country’s long-term infrastructure and economic growth. The joint venture entails a total investment of approximately ₹200 crore, structured as an equal 50:50 partnership. The manufacturing facility will be established in Haryana, with operations expected to commence in 2026. Under this partnership, the company will focus on manufacturing high-capacity, heavy-duty cranes, including truck cranes, crawler cranes and rough terrain cranes, catering to both Indian and international markets.

Commenting on the development, Sorab Agarwal, Executive Director, Action Construction Equipment Limited, said that India is witnessing an unprecedented phase of infrastructure and industrial growth, significantly driving demand for advanced construction equipment. He noted that the partnership with Kato Works marks a key milestone in bringing globally benchmarked crane technology to India while strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.

He added that ACE has consistently focused on developing world-class equipment in India, with its products currently exported to more than 42 countries. Through this collaboration, the company aims to further expand its presence in the high-capacity crane segment while positioning India as a strategic manufacturing hub for advanced lifting equipment.
The collaboration will leverage Kato Works’ proprietary technologies and decades of engineering expertise to enhance product performance, efficiency and reliability. Beyond addressing domestic demand, the joint venture will also explore export opportunities across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other international markets.
