AbhiBus, the bus ticketing arm of ixigo, has launched an industry-first Roadside Assistance programme aimed at supporting passengers in the event of a bus breakdown during their journey.
Under the new initiative, if a bus booked through AbhiBus breaks down en-route, the platform will arrange an alternative cab within 45 minutes at no additional cost to travellers. AbhiBus will bear the entire expense of the alternate transportation, ensuring passengers can continue their journey with minimal disruption.
The company said the initiative is designed to address one of the biggest concerns associated with intercity bus travel—being stranded during an unexpected breakdown. With bus travel witnessing strong growth across India, especially in Tier II and Tier III cities, AbhiBus aims to enhance reliability and customer confidence by extending support beyond the booking stage.
Mr. Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of AbhiBus, said customer empathy remains central to the company’s approach. He noted that while the platform works closely with trusted operators and offers features that help travellers make informed decisions, unexpected disruptions can still occur. According to him, the new Roadside Assistance service ensures that passengers are not left stranded and reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting customers throughout their journey.
To promote the new offering, AbhiBus has launched a marketing campaign featuring renowned dancer and actor Mr. Prabhu Deva. The Roadside Assistance programme adds to AbhiBus’ existing customer-focused services, including Abhi Assured, which offers up to 150% refunds under specified conditions, the Filter New Bus feature that allows users to choose between newer and older buses before booking, and 360-degree bus photographs that provide a detailed view of bus interiors and exteriors prior to reservation.
With this initiative, AbhiBus seeks to strengthen trust and accountability in India’s intercity bus travel ecosystem while improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
