Auto component maker JM Frictech India Pvt. Ltd. (JMI) has invested about ₹50 crore to set up its fourth manufacturing facility, in Chandigarh, as it expands its presence in North India. The plant is being commissioned in phases. It will start with warehousing and logistics, and manufacturing will be ramped up gradually so that the facility is fully operational within the next six to eight months.

The new plant will bring JMI closer to its customers in the north and add capacity to support growth in the tractor, construction equipment and other off-highway segments. “It will strengthen our manufacturing presence in North India and enable us to be closer to our customers while creating capacity for future growth,” said Mr. E. Madhavan, Managing Director, JM Frictech India Pvt. Ltd.
JMI has been expanding beyond traditional friction products into wet brakes, wet clutches, hydraulic actuation systems, transmission aggregates and hydrostatic transmissions. It is also localising advanced technologies for agricultural and off-highway vehicles.
The company expects strong growth over the next few years, driven by new product programmes, new customers and added capacity. With four plants, it will be better placed to serve customers in India and overseas.
