Maruti Suzuki hits record 23.4 lakh production, sets sights on 40 lakh capacity

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has clocked its highest-ever annual production of 23.4 lakh units in FY2025-26, becoming the only passenger vehicle OEM in India to achieve such a milestone. The company also emerged as the top-performing manufacturing facility within Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global network for the year.

The record output was driven by strong volumes from key models including the Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga and Baleno, each of which crossed the two lakh unit production mark during the year.

Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said the milestone reflects the strength of a well-established automotive ecosystem built over more than four decades. He credited the company’s employees, vendor base and dealer network for enabling scale, while also highlighting the role of supportive policy measures such as GST in driving demand and market confidence.

Looking ahead, the OEM is accelerating its capacity expansion plans, with a target of reaching around 40 lakh units per annum. The company currently operates four manufacturing facilities in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat, with a combined installed capacity of 24 lakh units annually.

As part of its next growth phase, the automaker has identified land for a fifth manufacturing facility at Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, Gujarat. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to add an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units, further strengthening India’s role as a key manufacturing and export hub for Suzuki.

Maruti Suzuki currently produces 17 models with over 650 variants catering to both domestic and international markets, underlining its scale and product depth in the country.
