TATA.ev — India’s leading zero-emission mobility brand — today launched the new Punch.ev, a fully upgraded version of its popular electric SUV. Positioned as a breakthrough in entry-level electric mobility, the new Punch.ev directly tackles the four biggest barriers that have held back mainstream EV ownership: affordability, real-world range, charging convenience and long-term battery assurance.

Built on Tata’s advanced acti.ev architecture, the new Punch.ev strengthens the company’s leadership in compact electric SUVs. It is designed not only as an ideal first EV for new adopters but also as a compelling first family car for Indian households. The model builds on the strong legacy of the Punch, which pioneered the subcompact SUV category.
At the heart of the upgrade is a larger 40 kWh LFP prismatic cell battery pack, delivering a real-world C75 range of around 355 km and an ARAI-certified combined (P1 + P2) range of 468 km. Tata will also offer a 30 kWh battery option, giving customers flexibility based on usage. Together, these options aim to ease the transition from ICE vehicles by offering lower running costs, smoother performance and reliable long-distance capability on a single charge.
Charging performance has seen a significant leap as well. With fast-charging support, the battery can charge from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes. A quick 15-minute top-up adds around 135 km of real-world range — ideal for short breaks during highway trips.
Addressing one of the biggest worries for first-time EV buyers, the new Punch.ev also comes with a Lifetime High-Voltage Battery Warranty (unlimited kilometres), offering long-term peace of mind on the most critical component of the vehicle.
TATA.ev’s rapidly expanding charging ecosystem continues to strengthen the Punch.ev’s appeal. The brand now supports more than 2.3 lakh charging points across 1,500 cities, including over 30,000 public chargers aggregated through 30 charge-point operators. The IRA.ev app provides real-time charger availability and payments, while the curated ‘.ev Verified’ network delivers high reliability across 2,500+ fast chargers in 500 cities. Tata’s Mega Charging Hubs now include 450+ superfast charging points across 80 highways, with a target to reach 800 by FY26.
Launching at an introductory price of ₹9.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the Punch.ev also comes with a Battery-as-a-Service option starting at ₹6.49 lakh, with a battery EMI of ₹2.6/km — bringing ownership costs close to ICE counterparts in the small-car segment.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The new Punch.ev makes electric mobility truly accessible, practical and worry-free for every household. With a real-world range of ~355 km, fast charging capability, a lifetime HV battery warranty and a highly accessible price point, it resolves the core concerns that have thus far held customers back from choosing an entry-level EV as their primary car. By bringing together everything customers seek in their preferred car for both daily and long-distance travel, the new Punch.ev marks a significant leap forward in the democratization of electric mobility in India.”
