Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (TMPV) announced the launch of the all-new Tata Punch. Priced from an introductory ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the new Punch builds on the success of the model that pioneered the subcompact SUV segment in October 2021 and has since been trusted by nearly seven lakh customers.

Positioned around the brand’s new “Command Max” philosophy, the refreshed Punch combines enhanced performance, improved comfort, advanced technology and a more muscular design. The latest iteration takes a significant step forward by offering two advanced powertrain options aimed at widening customer choice and capability in the segment. Buyers can now opt for the 1.2-litre turbocharged iTurbo Revotron petrol engine, which Tata Motors says delivers a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio, or choose the segment-first combination of twin-cylinder iCNG technology paired with an AMT gearbox, designed to offer greater convenience and efficiency.
Speaking at the launch, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said, the new Punch is positioned as a careful evolution of what customers already trust, built around Tata Motors’ “Command Max” philosophy. It brings a bolder SUV design, richer interiors and a stronger road presence, while adding meaningful upgrades in performance, technology and safety. The introduction of the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine delivers segment-leading performance, while the first-in-segment CNG with AMT option combines efficiency with everyday convenience without sacrificing boot space or comfort. Smarter features such as a 360-degree surround view, larger digital displays and auto-dimming mirrors bring higher-segment tech into the sub-compact space. Safety remains central to the Punch story, underlined by its 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, reinforcing Tata Motors’ belief that affordability need not come at the cost of protection. Together, these updates aim to make the Punch a more confident, capable and reassuring SUV for first-time buyers as well as multi-car households, while raising expectations in the sub-compact SUV segment.
Visually, the new Punch asserts a stronger presence with a redesigned front end featuring a rugged 3D grille, bull guard bumper and PowerSight LED headlamps, complemented by Infinity Glow LED connected tail lamps. Sculpted surfaces, high-set rear proportions, a sporty spoiler and striking alloy wheels add to its upright and confident stance, giving the SUV a commanding road presence from every angle.
Inside, the cabin has been reworked to feel bolder and more premium. A redesigned dashboard, ambient lighting and upgraded infotainment create a space that is both functional and expressive. Driver-focused ergonomics, a commanding seating position and smart packaging aim to balance comfort with everyday practicality. The interior palette draws inspiration from adventure themes, with mountain-style graphics and dark grey speckled finishes reinforcing the Punch’s go-anywhere character. Features such as executive lounge seats with extended thigh support, a DuoTone signature dashboard and a flat rear floor enhance comfort and space for all occupants.
Technology plays a central role in the new Punch. The SUV introduces a 26.03 cm Ultra View HD infotainment system offering improved clarity and responsiveness, alongside a 65W front Type-C fast charger, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming IRVM. A 360-degree HD surround view system enhances situational awareness, while Clima Touch automatic temperature control, a rear armrest and an integrated air purifier contribute to in-cabin comfort. Additional features such as a smart digital steering wheel, iTPMS as standard, premium audio with four speakers and four tweeters, follow-me-home lamps and wide 90-degree door opening further strengthen everyday convenience.
Under the “Command Max Capability” theme, Tata Motors is positioning the Punch as one of the most versatile offerings in its class. The introduction of the iTurbo petrol engine brings a noticeable performance upgrade for customers seeking stronger drivability, while the twin-cylinder iCNG setup ensures efficiency without compromising boot space or key features. The availability of petrol, CNG and turbo petrol options, along with manual and automated transmissions, is aimed at giving buyers greater flexibility than ever before in the segment.
Safety remains a core pillar of the Punch. Built on Tata Motors’ Alfa-Arc architecture and reinforced with ultra-high-strength steel, the new Punch is protected by the Tata Safety Dome, offering over 95 active and passive safety features. Six airbags are standard across the range, including pelvis-thorax side airbags, along with Electronic Stability Program, hill hold and hill descent control, three-point ELR seatbelts with reminders for all seats, and weather-ready features such as rear wiper, washer and defogger. Tata Motors says the comprehensive safety package is designed to deliver confidence across varied Indian road and driving conditions.
