Lu&Mi Detergenti, an Italian manufacturer known for its high-quality car-care and detailing solutions, made a strong impression at the India Automotive Garage Expo as it introduced its complete portfolio to the Indian market. Represented by Enrico Tavani, Export Manager and Arvind Sharma, Area Manager for India the company outlined its vision for India, its product strengths, and its plan to eventually bring Made-in-India for the world manufacturing to the region.

Entering a Transforming Market
Speaking at the event, Enrico Tavani emphasized that India represents one of the most dynamic and promising automotive service markets globally.
“This is the first time here at the India Automotive Garage Expo. We are Lu&Mi, a company based in the north of Italy, specialists in the cosmetic brand market. For almost 10 years we have produced for the car-wash sector, and we chose to come here because the Indian market is huge and evolving. We feel this is the right moment to start working in India,” he said.

He noted that India’s rapid industry transformation, combined with rising expectations for quality and environmental responsibility, created a strong rationale for the company’s entry.
Showcasing a Complete Range of Premium Italian Products
Arvind Sharma introduced the company’s product offerings, highlighting the breadth of solutions designed for both interior and exterior vehicle care.

“We have solutions for exterior cleaning, interior detailing, DIY users, garages, and retailers. All products are designed for the European market and brought directly from Italy, with different fragrances, colors, clear usage instructions, pH levels, and packaging options, both concentrated and ready-to-use,” he explained.
The Italian-made formulations, he added, stand out for their performance and adherence to European safety and quality standards.
OEM-Friendly, Customisable Solutions for India
A key strength of Lu&Mi Detergenti is its ability not only to sell branded products, but also to develop OEM-specific private-label ranges, an opportunity the team sees as highly relevant to India.
“The interesting part is that we can create entire custom ranges for OEMs. We don’t just supply products, we share our experience from global markets. Customers can develop their own brand, made in Italy today, and in the future also made in India, reducing transport costs. Our goal is to share our knowledge and produce locally under our formulas,” Arvind added.
The company’s international presence reinforces its ability to understand diverse markets. “We are not only in India, we are present in the Middle East, Europe, South Asia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Africa. Now we are expanding strongly into the South Indian market as well,” Arvind noted.
For Lu&Mi, India stands out as a fast-growing market with immense long-term potential.
“If we are here, it is because we feel the market is growing and changing every day. India is one of the markets that in the next five to ten years will transform enormously, and we need to be part of that journey,” Enrico said.
Raising Quality Standards and Supporting Market Evolution
Both representatives stressed that India is moving towards higher-quality, environmentally conscious car-care solutions.
“India needs quality as well. What we have noticed is that the market is evolving—and we want to bring that evolution through our products,” Arvind stated.
Enrico emphasized that the company evaluates not only product performance but also long-term results and environmental impact.
“We offer different solutions for the same cleaning tasks, always looking at the final result. Price matters, but quality matters too. We avoid harmful chemicals and prefer nature-friendly components, ensuring safety for the worker, environment, and equipment,” Enrico explained.
He highlighted, for instance, how traditional soda-based exterior cleaners, still common in some markets, clean quickly but harm vehicle paint, workers, and the environment. Lu&Mi’s formulas gradually reduce such components in favor of safer, modern alternatives.
Committed to Sustainability and Future Manufacturing in India
Sustainability, they stressed, is not a trend but a core principle for Lu&Mi Detergenti.
“We want to care for our planet. Chemical producers often use similar components, but what matters is how you produce and what the final product becomes. In the self-service and after-service segments, customers trust the workshops, and protecting that trust with safe, high-quality products is essential,” he said.
This philosophy also aligns with their future manufacturing intentions.
“Soon we will take the Made in India initiative forward. We want to bring products from India to the world with Italian R&D and expertise,” Arvind concluded.
