Mahindra to build 1,000+ Ultrafast EV Charging points by 2027, Opens First Hubs on Key Highways

Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled an ambitious plan to set up 250 electric vehicle charging stations with more than 1,000 ultrafast charging points across India by 2027, marking a major step in strengthening the country’s EV infrastructure. Each station will feature powerful 180 kW dual-gun chargers under the Charge_IN network, supporting Mahindra’s broader vision to UNLIMIT electric mobility and align with the government’s push to accelerate EV adoption.

The company has already inaugurated its first two Charge_IN stations — one at Hoskote on NH 75 along the Bengaluru–Chennai corridor, and another at Murthal on NH 44, around 50 km from Delhi. Both hubs are equipped with two ultrafast chargers capable of powering up four EVs simultaneously, forming the early backbone of Mahindra’s high-speed charging ecosystem.

“Electric mobility is about driving a larger shift towards cleaner, sustainable transportation,” said Mr. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Executive Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd. He added that Mahindra’s upcoming eSUVs, including the XEV 9e and BE 6, will deliver around 500 km of real-world range, ensuring confidence for long-distance travel. Combined with the Charge_IN network, the company aims to make EV road journeys effortless and as reliable as conventional driving.

The 180 kW chargers will be capable of powering Mahindra’s eSUV portfolio — XEV 9e, BE 6, and the upcoming XEV 9S — from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Stations will be located along major highway corridors and co-located with eateries, cafés, and other traveller amenities, making them natural stopover points where drivers can charge their vehicles while taking a break.

Mahindra eSUV owners will be able to locate, charge, and pay seamlessly via the Me4U app, which already provides access to nearly 34,000 public charging points through multiple charge point operators, including Charge_IN. Other EV users can access these chargers through the “Charge_IN by Mahindra” app and various leading aggregator platforms.

With this expansion, Mahindra aims to remove range anxiety, build confidence among long-distance EV users, and accelerate India’s transition to a cleaner mobility future.
