Astro Motors, an emerging player in the commercial electric vehicle space, unveiled two flagship products at the EV Expo in Pune – the Astro Navya (L5 cargo segment) and Astro Nova (L5 passenger segment). These launches mark a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to user-centric innovation and smart electric mobility solutions.

The Astro Navya is India’s first geared electric commercial three-wheeler, purpose-built to address the challenges faced by fleet owners and drivers in demanding operating conditions. By integrating a high-performance motor, battery system, and gearbox, the Navya promises optimised payload capacity, longer battery life, and enhanced performance across rough terrains, stop-and-go traffic, and hilly routes. The vehicle is being launched with a campaign titled “Gear hai to sahi hai”, aimed at conveying the practical benefits of a geared EV in a relatable, compelling way.
On the passenger side, the Astro Nova has been designed to redefine the urban three-wheeler experience by focusing on comfort, space, and design innovation. The vehicle caters to the evolving expectations of shared and premium mobility, offering a significantly upgraded experience for both driver and passenger. Its launch campaign, “Auto ka SUV”, draws a strong parallel between the Nova’s spacious interior and the comfort associated with SUVs – positioning it as a game-changer in a segment that has seen little transformation over decades.
According to Vitan Jagada, Founder & CEO of Astro Motors, the company is ready to roll out its first commercial product with deliveries for the Navya set to begin soon. The Nova, currently undergoing homologation, is scheduled for launch in July 2025, to be followed by L3 cargo and passenger variants in October 2025. He also shared plans to introduce a four-wheeler modular skateboard chassis in early FY 2026, fully developed in-house and designed for licensing opportunities across the EV ecosystem.
Astro Motors is targeting both B2B and B2C markets, with a strategy centred on fleet partnerships, a growing dealership network, and geographic expansion into emerging markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, ahead of entry into more mature economies. Built on Industry 4.0 principles, Astro aims to establish itself as a global EV brand grounded in innovation, sustainability, and lean operations.
The official launch event was attended by partners and key stakeholders, underscoring the strong market interest around Astro’s differentiated product offerings. The company has already established an operational foundation with initial dealer sign-ups and financial tie-ups aimed at supporting its aggressive go-to-market strategy.
