Volkswagen India has launched its first Performance Centre in the country, located at Mount Road,
Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This milestone forms part of the brand’s broader strategy to enhance the
premium retail experience for Indian customers and drive its vision of ‘Progressive Performance’
through dedicated facilities that showcase the Golf GTI and Tiguan R-Line.

Sharing his thoughts on the launch, Arun Uppuswamy, Managing Director, Volkswagen Mount Road,
expressed pride in hosting India’s first Performance Centre. He noted that with the new Golf GTI and
Tiguan R-Line now on display, the Mount Road facility is poised to offer an enhanced and refined
retail experience for Volkswagen’s latest performance models in an elegant new setting.
As Volkswagen India embarks on this next chapter of premiumisation, the rollout of Performance
Centres across the country will be instrumental in delivering an aspirational and immersive brand
experience for Indian automotive enthusiasts.
The Chennai facility is the first in a series of 12 planned Performance Centres across key markets in
India. Alongside Mount Road, a second Performance Centre has also been inaugurated under
Volkswagen Chennai, further strengthening the brand’s presence in the state.

With these additions, Volkswagen India now operates 27 sales and 19 service touchpoints in Tamil
Nadu, reinforcing its commitment to network expansion and retail excellence.
The Performance Centres have been conceptualised to deliver a multi-sensory retail experience
tailored for the brand’s discerning customer base. These centres will serve as exclusive hubs for
Volkswagen’s performance-focused carlines, offering immersive experiences designed around sight,
sound, smell, touch, and taste. Specialised staff at each location are trained to convey the technical
prowess and design legacy of these iconic vehicles.

Volkswagen’s recent launch of the Tiguan R-Line and the Golf GTI signals a bold step towards
meeting the aspirations of Indian consumers seeking world-class, high-performance vehicles. The
Performance Centres will serve as the primary platform for delivering and showcasing these
premium offerings.

According to Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, the introduction of these globally
celebrated models is aligned with evolving customer expectations in India. He stated that the
strategy of premium and progressive performance is being brought to life not just through product
launches, but also via a refreshed retail experience delivered through the Performance Centres. The
new touchpoints, he said, will help the brand engage more meaningfully with customers and
prospects by offering an elevated purchase journey.
