Volkswagen Starts Production of New Taigun

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has commenced production of the new Volkswagen Taigun at its Pune plant, reinforcing the Group’s ‘Make in India, for India and the world’ strategy.

The new Taigun builds on the success of its predecessor with refreshed design elements and upgraded features, while continuing to offer Volkswagen’s signature driving dynamics, comfort and 5-star safety. Developed for Indian driving conditions, the SUV also reflects the company’s focus on localisation and manufacturing efficiency.

The company said the start of production highlights the growing strength of its Indian manufacturing ecosystem, which is now capable of delivering global-quality vehicles while responding quickly to both domestic and export market needs.

Since its launch in 2021, the Taigun has emerged as a key pillar of Volkswagen’s SUV strategy in India, with over 143,000 units produced so far. Notably, around 30% of this production has been exported to international markets, underlining India’s role as an important global hub for the brand.
