Volkswagen opens pre-bookings for Tayron R-Line, its new flagship 7-seater SUV for India

Volkswagen India has announced the commencement of pre-bookings for the Tayron R-Line, its new flagship SUV for the Indian market, ahead of its launch in February 2026. Marking the brand’s entry into the premium 7-seater SUV space, the Tayron R-Line expands Volkswagen’s portfolio to meet the rising demand for spacious, feature-rich and versatile family SUVs. Customers can now reserve the model with a pre-booking amount of ₹51,000 at authorised Volkswagen dealerships across the country or through the brand’s official digital channels.

Announcing the start of pre-bookings, Mr. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said the company is preparing to introduce one of its most advanced, stylish and fun-to-drive luxury SUVs tailored to Indian buyers’ evolving lifestyle needs. He noted that the premium 7-seater SUV category comprises discerning customers who expect a combination of strong functionality, design appeal and substance, and the Tayron R-Line is aimed at delivering on these expectations.

The Tayron R-Line will arrive with a packed feature list. On the design front, it comes with IQ.Light HD Matrix headlamps (a first in the segment), distinctive R-Line elements on the bumper and doors, 19-inch Coventry alloys, and illuminated front and rear logos. The SUV presents a distinctly premium German design identity at first glance. Inside, it offers an expansive cabin with a panoramic sunroof, ergonomic seats, a large 15-inch infotainment display (segment-first), a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, AR head-up display, and 12-way powered front seats with memory, ventilation, massage and lumbar support—features positioned as best-in-segment. The cabin also includes 30-colour ambient lighting with an illuminated R insert on the dashboard.

Safety features include nine airbags (best in segment), electronic stability control, hill ascent and descent assistance, and multiple drive modes. Technological additions feature a 3-zone Climatronic AC, gesture-controlled tailgate (best in segment), a 700W Harman Kardon audio system, dual 45W USB-C high-power charging ports and wireless charging.

Powering the Tayron R-Line is the 2.0-litre TSI EA888 evo4 engine producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. The SUV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 224 km/h.

The model will be offered in seven colour options: Dolphin Grey Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Ultraviolet Metallic, Cipressino-Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic and Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl Effect.
