TVS unveils Orbiter V1 e-scooter with flexible battery subscription option

TVS Motor Company has strengthened its electric mobility portfolio with the launch of the Orbiter V1 electric scooter and the introduction of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model across its EV range, aimed at making electric mobility more accessible to urban commuters.

The Orbiter V1, powered by a 1.8 kWh battery, becomes the most affordable electric scooter in TVS Motor’s lineup. With the BaaS model, the company’s EV scooter range now starts at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi, inclusive of PM e-Drive incentives). Customers who prefer to purchase the scooter without the battery subscription option can buy the Orbiter V1 at ₹84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Designed for everyday city commuting, the Orbiter V1 delivers a certified IDC range of 86 km and supports 0–80 percent charging in around two hours and 20 minutes. The scooter is equipped with features such as a connected mobile app, front LED headlamp with visor and a coloured LCD digital cluster with incoming call display.

The model follows a functional design approach aimed at improving urban practicality. It features an 845 mm flat seat for rider and pillion comfort, a 290 mm straight-line footboard for better legroom and a wide upright handlebar for an ergonomic riding posture. The scooter also offers 34-litre under-seat storage capable of accommodating two helmets.

TVS has also integrated multiple connectivity and safety features including crash and fall alerts, anti-theft protection, geo-fencing and time-fencing alerts. Riders can remotely monitor battery charge and odometer data through a mobile application. The scooter also offers turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts on the LCD cluster, hill hold assist, cruise control, parking assist and over-the-air software updates. It supports Eco and Power ride modes along with regenerative braking.

With the launch of the Orbiter V1, the Orbiter lineup now includes two variants — the V1 with a 1.8 kWh battery and the V2 with a 3.1 kWh battery.

The newly introduced Battery-as-a-Service model separates the cost of the vehicle from the battery, allowing customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of paying the full cost upfront. TVS says this approach reduces the initial purchase price while offering extended battery warranty and flexible payment options.

Under the BaaS model, subscription plans start at ₹862 per month and include an extended warranty of up to five years or 70,000 km, along with unlimited monthly usage during the chosen subscription tenure.

Mr. Gaurav Gupta, President – India Two-Wheeler Business at TVS Motor Company, said the Orbiter V1 creates a more accessible entry point into the company’s electric scooter range while the BaaS model introduces greater flexibility in EV ownership by separating vehicle and battery costs.

Mr. Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President – Head Commuter & EV Business and Head Corporate Brand & Media at TVS Motor Company, said the expansion of the Orbiter range reflects growing consumer demand for practical urban EV mobility. He added that flexible ownership models such as BaaS could help accelerate EV adoption across India as the electric mobility market enters its next phase of growth.
