Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has achieved a major manufacturing milestone by crossing 50,000 units of the Škoda Kylaq, reinforcing its commitment to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative. The Kylaq has emerged as a strong growth driver for the Group, contributing significantly to its 36 percent year-on-year growth in 2025, powered by increased localisation and enhanced production scale across its Indian operations.
Celebrating the milestone at the Chakan plant, Mr. H. D. Kumaraswamy, Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industries and Minister of Steel, congratulated the company and commended its commitment to domestic manufacturing. Mr. Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, expressed gratitude on behalf of the company, noting that the 50,000-unit achievement reflects the deep trust customers continue to place in the Kylaq. He emphasised that vehicles designed and made in India — such as the Kylaq built on the MQB-A0-IN platform — are winning recognition both in India and international markets.

To support rising demand, SAVWIPL has expanded production capacity at the Chakan facility by 30 percent and increased engagement with domestic suppliers to achieve deeper localisation. This forms part of the Group’s broader efforts to strengthen India as a manufacturing and engineering base while contributing to national industrial growth.
The Kylaq’s success also highlights the benefits of SAVWIPL’s 25-year journey in India, during which it has built a strong talent pool, developed local supplier ecosystems and expanded capabilities across its two manufacturing facilities in Chakan (Pune) and Shendra (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar). As the Group continues to widen its portfolio across Škoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Porsche, it remains focused on manufacturing excellence and enhancing India’s role in its global operations.
