MG Majestor Sets Guinness Record by Pulling 406-Tonne Train

JSW MG Motor India has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with its MG Majestor, which pulled a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of 300 feet in Jammu and Kashmir, establishing a new global benchmark for SUV capability.

The record attempt, conducted on a secured railway section between Kakapora and Awantipora stations, exceeded the qualifying criteria of 400 tonnes and 100 feet. Notably, the SUV used was a standard production model with no modifications, highlighting its real-world engineering strength.

Powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque, the Majestor demonstrated strong traction, controlled power delivery and structural integrity under extreme load conditions. The attempt was independently verified, ensuring the train movement was powered solely by the vehicle without any external assistance.

The train, weighing over 406 tonnes and comprising a locomotive and multiple coaches, was officially documented under Guinness World Records protocols.

Positioned as India’s first D+ SUV, the Majestor combines rugged capability with advanced features, including a 4WD system with multiple off-road modes, triple differential locks and Level 2 ADAS.

“This achievement is a powerful demonstration of what the MG MAJESTOR is engineered to deliver. It reflects our focus on building vehicles that combine strength, precision and control, even in the most demanding conditions. With the MAJESTOR, we are setting new benchmarks for capability while staying committed to delivering meaningful innovation and confidence to our customers.” said Mr. Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India.
