SANY Heavy Industry India

SANY Heavy Industry India, a name synonymous with innovation and engineering excellence, has carved a strong niche in the country’s rapidly evolving construction equipment sector. In an insightful discussion with N. Balasubramanian, Sanjay Saxena, Chief Operating Officer – Sales, Marketing & Customer Support, SANY Heavy Industry India, shares how the company is redefining its growth roadmap through technological leadership, sustainable solutions, and a relentless focus on customer delight.

Since its entry into the Indian market in 2002, SANY India has transformed from a new entrant to a dominant force across multiple equipment segments. “From day one, we have focused on deeply understanding the Indian infrastructure landscape and delivering world-class solutions tailored for local needs,” Saxena emphasises. This unwavering commitment culminated in establishing the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chakan, Pune, a landmark that firmly anchored the ‘Make in India, for the World’ vision.

Spread over 90 acres, the Chakan plant is a testament to SANY’s manufacturing strength and localisation push. “This facility is not just about manufacturing; it symbolises our commitment to self-reliance. Currently, we have achieved 30–40% localisation across key product lines, and we are continuously deepening partnerships with local suppliers to push this further,” Saxena shares. The plant’s capabilities enable SANY to cater not only to domestic needs but also to global markets, reinforcing India’s position as a global manufacturing hub within the group.

Among SANY’s standout achievements is its market leadership in the hoisting segment, particularly cranes. “Our leadership is driven by technological innovation, tailored solutions, and strong customer-first thinking. Our cranes serve diverse sectors from wind energy to oil & gas, designed specifically for India’s challenging conditions,” Saxena explains. He adds that their Pune-based facility enables competitive pricing and faster deliveries, making SANY a trusted partner in complex projects.

Customer support remains central to SANY’s strategy. “We have expanded to over 42 dealers and 260 touchpoints across India, ensuring timely sales and service support. Our approach revolves around accessibility, capability, and responsiveness,” Saxena says. By empowering dealers with advanced training, mobile service units, and digital tools, SANY ensures maximum machine uptime and deep customer engagement. “Technology-driven initiatives like remote monitoring, CRM platforms, and telematics are transforming service delivery, making it smarter and more proactive,” he asserts.

SANY is also at the forefront of the industry’s shift towards electrification and green technologies. “We recently launched the SKT130, India’s first hybrid truck, combining diesel and electric power to deliver superior efficiency and lower emissions,” Saxena highlights proudly. Alongside this, the fully electric SKT105E mining truck—locally manufactured and boasting a 70-tonne payload capacity—stands as a significant leap towards zero-emission operations. “These milestones mark our unwavering commitment to sustainable solutions without compromising performance or durability,” he underlines.

Beyond mining, SANY is actively advancing electric and hybrid solutions in port equipment and road machinery. “We are optimising road equipment with intelligent controls and eco-friendly engine technologies to reduce carbon emissions,” Saxena shares. He firmly believes that blending global green tech with local innovation positions SANY India uniquely to help customers transition toward sustainable practices seamlessly.

While the industry navigates rising input costs and execution delays, Saxena sees strong growth opportunities. “Government initiatives like the National Infrastructure Pipeline and PM Gati Shakti are game-changers. We’re fully aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, aiming to support large-scale infrastructure growth with high-performance, reliable solutions,” he says. Saxena further notes the industry’s move towards intelligent, connected, and cleaner machines, which offers a canvas for players like SANY to innovate and lead.

Looking ahead, Saxena is confident yet strategic. “We anticipate strong double-digit growth this year, powered by product innovation, capacity expansion, and a wider dealer network,” he states. With India-specific R&D and a focus on sustainable technologies, SANY is prepared to meet the country’s ambitious infrastructure and environmental targets. “Our ultimate goal is to be more than just an equipment provider — we want to be a true partner in India’s journey towards becoming a modern, self-reliant nation,” Saxena concludes.

By merging robust manufacturing capabilities, advanced green technologies, and a deeply embedded customer-first philosophy, SANY Heavy Industry India is not merely keeping pace with industry trends — it is decisively setting the standard for the future.
