Tucked inside a busy lane of Dwarka Sector 7 in New Delhi is a small shop that many vehicle owners trust—Ekta Battery. It’s run by Arun Kumar, a soft-spoken electrician who has been fixing batteries and electrical issues since he was a teenager.
Now 48, Arun has over 30 years of experience and has been running this shop since 2005. Every day, he and his team of seven handle all kinds of work—changing batteries, repairing alternators, fixing wiring—mainly for cars, small trucks, and other four-wheelers. Some days are busy with 8 to 10 battery replacements, and other days are quieter, but the quality of work never changes.
One thing Arun is especially proud of is being associated with Tata Green Batteries. “We’ve been working with Tata Green for 5 years now,” he says. “It’s a very reliable battery. At Ekta Battery, there are no big signboards or fancy counters. What customers get is honest advice, timely service, and a mechanic who genuinely cares. Arun says, “We don’t trouble the customer. We fix the issue and make sure they don’t have to come back again for the same problem.”
Though the shop is on rent, Arun treats it like home. He isn’t worried about targets or expansion. “My only goal is to keep doing good work,” he says simply. While electric vehicles are slowly becoming popular, he hasn’t started working on them fully yet, though he has fitted batteries for vehicles like the Tata Nexon.
When asked if young people are interested in this line of work, Arun just smiles, “Not many. But if someone wants to learn, I always say—just focus on service. That’s what keeps you in business.”
Arun’s journey is a reminder that good work, done sincerely, always finds loyal customers. Whether it’s a long-distance truck or a family car, Ekta Battery is where many turn to when they need power they can rely on.
