For Manoj Nijhawan, life never followed a straight path. Born in Indore, he had a dream like many others, graduate from college, secure a stable job, and build a good life. After his schooling at St. Paul’s, he was selected by ONGC during campus placements, a big opportunity for any young graduate. But just as his career was about to take off, tragedy struck. His father suffered a heart attack, his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and with three sisters to care for, the family needed him. He made the tough decision to leave everything behind and return to Indore.
Back home, Manoj tried working in a few companies, including helping his cousin in a battery business, but nothing felt right. He often questioned his choices, feeling frustrated and lost. But one evening, sitting quietly with his father, Manoj began to understand the family trade, his father’s garage business, fixing trucks and engines. His father warned him against it, saying it wasn’t a “white-collar” job, but Manoj, stubborn at heart, decided to give it a shot.
Starting at the bottom, Manoj learned the hard way, struggling, screaming in corners when things got too tough. But he never gave up. Over time, he began to see that repairing engines wasn’t just a job; it was a craft. He started thinking beyond simple repairs, modifying engines, understanding problems deeply, and innovating solutions.
Today, Manoj runs Bishambar Auto Garage in Indore’s Transport Nagar, named after his father. The garage is a trusted hub for heavy-duty vehicles like Tata, Mahindra, and more. Customers come to him for solutions to complex issues, engine problems, electronic faults, or the loss of torque in trucks. His secret? Understanding the machine like a doctor understands his patient.
His nearly two-decade-long association with Tata Green Batteries also stands out. “Maine kabhi Tata Green ki Battery lagake failure nahi dekha, customers bhi jaante hain ki jab main recommend karta hoon, toh woh sirf battery nahi, ek bharosa le rahe hain jisse unka kaam chalata rahe,” he says. For Manoj, Tata Green is more than a battery, it’s a promise of reliability and long-lasting performance that customers can count on.
Alongside the garage, Manoj also runs his own fleet of 10 Tata trucks under Sarthak Roadlines, transporting goods like fruits and chocolates from Maharashtra and Indore to Nepal. This dual role—fleet operator and garage owner, gives him a unique edge.
In a world where many chase titles and designations, Manoj proudly wears the badge of a mechanic, an engineer and a fleet owner, a man who stands by his machines, his family, and his community.
“For Manoj, Tata Green Batteries is more than just a brand, it is a promise of reliability and long-lasting performance that customers can count on.”
